The fantasy football regular season is winding down, meaning playoff teams are beginning to be finalized. The waiver wire is the perfect place to add players that can help a team reach the top of any fantasy league.
Luther Burden is the perfect target for a team looking to add a potential league winner for the fantasy playoffs. If a roster spot is available, the Chicago Bears’ rookie receiver seems poised to break out late in the season. He has seen his highest snap percentage and target count in each of the last two weeks. The first step towards breaking out is opportunity, and Burden seems to be finally getting just that.
Blake Corum has been someone many fantasy football players have been keeping an eye on all season long. In the event Kyren Williams misses time with an injury, Corum would instantly become a high-end RB2. He had his best game of the season on Sunday, and Williams was banged up for portions of the Los Angeles Rams contest. If Williams misses next week against the Arizona Cardinals, Corum will become an instant start. This is an injury report to monitor throughout the week.
Darren Waller made his first start back for the Miami Dolphins on Sunday after missing six weeks with an injury. The results weren’t eye-popping, but he did see another redzone target. Waller should be added to all fantasy leagues due to his incredible schedule in the coming weeks. Any team with a TE outside of the top guys should put in a claim for Waller if available.
Jayden Higgins continued his recent success on Sunday, a major development considering the return of CJ Stroud at quarterback. If Higgins is going to continue producing with Stroud at QB, he definitely deserves a spot in a majority of leagues. He recorded his fourth double-digit fantasy points game in his last six outings. The 6’4 rookie is becoming a reliable flex option.
Devaughn Vele has come out of nowhere to become a consideration in fantasy. Through week 11, Vele had seen just 13 targets. Over the last two weeks, that number is 15! His size gives Tyler Shough a major redzone target, and the increased role gives him a solid floor when he doesn’t reach the end zone. Vele is a high upside add who could prove to be pivotal as the season goes on.
Gunnar Helm is the definition of a gem in the rough. Rostered in just 3% of fantasy leagues, the rookie out of Texas has seen an increase in usage for the Tennessee Titans. He has seen back-to-back weeks with seven targets and six receptions, season highs in both categories. If TE is an area of need, Helm is a great dart throw.
The waiver wire is where fantasy football leagues are won. Finding gems before anyone else is what makes fantasy less about luck and more about skill. This has never been more of a focus with the fantasy playoffs inching closer and closer.
