With starting pitcher Max Fried having a great start at the one-third mark of the season for the New York Yankees, he is showing incredible signs of entering the 2025 American League Cy Young Award race.
On that same note, all roads lead to No. 99, right fielder Aaron Judge, driving the way to another AL MVP. In the rearview mirror, the New York Yankees could become the first team since the 2013 Detroit Tigers to have a Cy Young and MVP winner in the same year.
The last pair to earn the titles were Miguel Cabrera (AL MVP) and Max Scherzer (AL Cy Young).

How Fried Fits The Part For New York Yankees
In last Saturday’s whooping over the (9-43) Colorado Rockies, Fried threw 83 pitches for 57 strikes, allowing one earned run and six hits while striking out seven batters in 7.1 innings.
The lefty allowed seven men on base (six hits, one walk) while facing 26 batters, but made amends with his fourth and fifth pick-offs this season, after giving up a lead-off single in the first inning and another in closing out the bottom of the third.

Fried’s record increased to 7-0, and his ERA stayed at 1.29, the lowest in the MLB amid 81 starters with a minimum of 10 starts entering Saturday.
Since the ERA became an official stat in 1913, Fried’s 1.29 ERA is the lowest in his first 11 starts by a Bombers pitcher.

What Aaron Judge Can Do
At 6’7″, 282 lbs, there isn’t too much that Judge can’t do on the baseball field. While the righty is currently batting .395 with 18 home runs and 47 RBIs, his 1.234 OPS adds another chapter to Judge’s storied career in the Bronx.

While he is leading in batting average and OPS in the American League, he has plenty of time to catch up in the other categories.
Judge also tallied 62 home runs in 2022, passing Roger Maris’ 61 home run record in 1961 on the all-time home run list.
End Of My New York Yankees Rant
With both Fried and Judge playing the way they are at the one-third mark of the MLB season, there is no stopping them from obtaining the 2025 American League Cy Young Award and 2025 MVP winner, respectively.
Fried, with the Atlanta Braves, was the runner-up in 2022, with a 2.48 ERA. What can I say about Judge? He just gets better every night.
We will have to keep watching and see who wins.
