WWE announced the main event for WrestleMania 41 night one. In an interesting booking decision, the main event has nothing to do with a championship. Instead, the company has booked the triple threat between Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and CM Punk, seemingly granting a lifelong wish to Punk.
Seth Rollins is not a fan of Punk, and seeing him in a main event of WrestleMania disgusts him. Punk has always gone against the grain of WWE, which includes his first run with Vince McMahon, and his current run under HHH. From trashing the company on the way out, to trying to make money in AEW attacking WWE, there are many valid reasons he is undeserving.
Rollins has been the workhorse of WWE for years, arguably the most well-rounded man on the roster. He could never imagine burning the bridge that lifted him and his family, while Punk never considers the wellness of anyone but himself. Even when with the company, he is never one to put anybody over.
Not only is Punk personally undeserving, but he is also unable to keep up with the stars of today. His cardio is no match for any opponent since returning to WWE. Even in victory, he always looks worse off.
WrestleMania 41 night one also has the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match on the card. This implies that Punk is more valuable than Gunther and the workhorse championship. Why would a man who has stabbed WWE over and over deserve the main event over a dominant champion?
This match does have the drama of Punk calling in his favor, which turned out to be that Paul Heyman would be in his corner, and not in Reigns’. Rollins also has a personal beef storyline with Punk, but there should be something on the line, especially for a WrestleMania main event.
From publicly attacking the company to more deserving storylines on the card, Punk does not deserve to be the main event. One can only hope WWE does the right thing and puts Rollins over. He carried this company for years and would sacrifice anything for it.
