Witt Jr. ranks among the top shortstops in the league this season in terms of defensive contribution as well. His fielding percentage is .983 and he has only made two errors so far.
Bobby Witt Jr. had the best year of his career last season. He won his first batting title, hitting .332 on the year, and he was also named to his first All-Star team. He also achieved the 30 home run and 30 stolen base feat, while eclipsing the 100 RBI mark as well. Moreover, his OBP of .389 was good enough to rank him sixth in the league. Additionally, he won a Silver Slugger Award, a Gold Glove Award, and finished runner-up in the MVP race behind Aaron Judge.
One of the most valuable characteristics of Bobby Witt Jr. is the level of intensity that he plays with. He puts maximum effort into every game. This ability to consistently leave it all out there is what makes him such a special player. His intensity is reminiscent of former Kansas City Royals legend George Brett. George Brett led the Royals to their first World Series title in 1985, so they are hoping that Witt Jr.’s similar intensity will bring the title back to Kansas City in 2025. The Royals won the World Series again in 2015, but have not had playoff success since then.
Witt Jr. led them to the playoffs for the first time since 2015 last season, but they lost to the New York Yankees in the American League Divisional Series (ALDS). He will look to improve upon that this year, with his eyes set on winning a World Series title.
Bobby Witt Jr. is off to another great start in the 2025 season. He is well on his way to becoming an All-Star again and further cementing himself as one of the top players in the league. Witt Jr. is a special player, and he has the potential to become the face of the league over the next few years.
