This is the Avalanche vs. Golden Knights Game Two Recap. Las Vegas was visiting Colorado for the first two games, which wrapped up Friday night at the Ball Area in Denver. Could the home team bounce back after being blown out in Game One?

First Period – Avalanche Vs. Golden Knights Game Two Recap

The only thing of concern for the Avalanche has been the goaltending. They’ve pulled their goalie multiple times, prompting much online discourse. The team stuck with Scott Wedgewood, and it paid off early. He may have faced more shots, but he stopped all 12 in the first. Despite losing in shots and totaling double the giveaways, Colorado entered the first intermission up 1-0. The goal was credited to center Ross Colton, off a juicy rebound.

Second Period – Avalanche Vs. Golden Knights Game Two Recap

Just 1:33 into the frame, Avalanche center Martin Necas was called for two minors on the same stoppage, resulting in a four-minute power play. The Golden Knights blew the opportunity when center Jack Eichel was called for interference, less than a minute later. After everyone did their time, the score remained the same.

Avalanche center Nicolas Roy earned a trip to the box, but their penalty kill was dominant thus far, including killing the remaining time after the aforementioned four-on-four. Golden Knights’ defenseman Shea Theodore gave the opponents their first man-advantage near the end of the period.

Third period – Avalanche Vs. Golden Knights Game Two Recap

The Avalanche started the third with 43 seconds remaining on the power play, but couldn’t take advantage. It wouldn’t take long for them to regain the man advantage. Just 1:58 into the frame, Golden Knights’ center Jack Eichel took a trip to the box, but goaltender Carter Hart remained sharp, keeping his team within one goal.

After a couple of clean, tight periods, things were starting to unravel. There was another penalty just 3:48 into the period. This time, Avalanche defenseman Brent Burns was called for high-sticking. It wasn’t on the power play, but Eichel tied it up with 10:45 left in regulation.

The home crowd was noticeably quiet for the first time, and things got worse from there. Eichel picked up another point, this time, with a smooth assist to winger Ivan Barbashev. The Golden Knights put the game away with 1:03 left on the clock when Barbashev scored his second goal of the game, albeit on an open net.
