College football Week 6 kicks off Saturday, Oct. 10, with an SEC-heavy slate that runs from noon to night. No. 2 Georgia visits No. 6 Alabama, Texas and Oklahoma meet in the Red River Rivalry, and No. 21 UCLA heads to Oregon.

We teamed up with the data team at EdgeDesk Sports to find where the betting lines might be off. EdgeDesk builds its own point spread for every game and compares it with the sportsbooks. When the two numbers are far apart, that’s a game worth a closer look.

Week 6 spreads: EdgeDesk vs. the sportsbooks

The bigger the gap, the more EdgeDesk’s data disagrees with the books.

Sportsbook spreads were captured Oct. 8 and will move before kickoff.

1. Georgia vs. Alabama: time, channel and prediction

When/where to watch: 7:30 p.m. ET, ABC (stream on the ESPN app, YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV or Fubo). Bryant-Denny Stadium, Tuscaloosa.

This is the game of the week. Alabama QB Keelon Russell is coming off a 285-yard, three-touchdown game against Mississippi State. Kirby Smart has praised his arm and his ability to make plays on the run. Georgia needs to pressure him without letting him escape for big plays.

On the other side, Georgia QB Gunner Stockton has to avoid turnovers. Alabama’s defense stops the run and forces takeaways. If Georgia falls into third-and-long, the Tide take control. The wild card is Hurricane Isaias. Alabama and the SEC are monitoring the storm, so the kickoff time could change.

The bet: EdgeDesk has Alabama by 5.3. The books have Alabama by just 1.5. The data likes Alabama -1.5, but watch the weather before you bet.

2. Texas vs. Oklahoma: Red River Rivalry channel and prediction

When/where to watch: 3:30 p.m. ET, ABC (stream on the ESPN app, YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV or Fubo). Cotton Bowl, Dallas.

Texas has the better team on paper, but its running game ranks just 88th in the country. That plays right into Oklahoma’s strength. The Sooners have one of the nation’s best defenses, led by defensive linemen David Stone and Jayden Jackson. If Texas can’t run, Arch Manning will face a lot of obvious passing downs.

Oklahoma’s problem is its offense. John Mateer’s unit has been inconsistent and the Sooners can’t run the ball well either. Their defense can keep it close, but they need to hold on to the ball and finish drives.

The bet: EdgeDesk has Texas by 9.7 vs. a 7.5-point spread. It’s a small gap. Texas -7.5 is a lean, not a strong edge.

3. Ole Miss vs. Vanderbilt: the biggest upset alert of Week 6

When/where to watch: 3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN (stream on the ESPN app, Disney+, YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV or Sling). FirstBank Stadium, Nashville.

This is the biggest gap on the board. The sportsbooks have Ole Miss by 9.5. EdgeDesk has Ole Miss by just one point. Why? Ole Miss gives up 194.8 rushing yards and 30.8 points per game, both last in the SEC. Vanderbilt coach Clark Lea wants to run the ball and keep the Ole Miss offense on the sideline.

The case for Ole Miss is QB Trinidad Chambliss: 1,222 passing yards and a 70.8% completion rate. Top running back Kewan Lacy is expected back from a shoulder injury. Vanderbilt has lost both SEC games and commits nine penalties a game. QB Jared Curtis missed the Georgia game with a knee injury, so check his status before kickoff.

The bet: On paper, Vanderbilt +9.5 is the best value of the week. One caution: EdgeDesk flagged this game for extra review, so treat it as a strong lean, not a lock.

4. UCLA vs. Oregon: time, channel and prediction

When/where to watch: 3:30 p.m. ET, CBS (stream on Paramount+, YouTube TV or Fubo). Autzen Stadium, Eugene.

No. 21 UCLA is 4-0 and leads the Big Ten in rushing at 281.5 yards per game. Oregon scores 47.5 points per game. UCLA’s plan is simple: run the ball, eat the clock and keep Oregon’s offense off the field.

Oregon’s QB spot is a question. Dante Moore suffered a concussion against USC, and Dylan Raiola played well in relief. Watch who starts and how UCLA QB Nico Iamaleava handles the run game.

The bet: The books have Oregon by 11.5. EdgeDesk has Oregon by 3.5. That points to UCLA +11.5. Like Vanderbilt, this game carries an EdgeDesk review flag, so size your bet accordingly.

5. Texas A&M vs. Missouri: time, channel and prediction

When/where to watch: 12 p.m. ET, ABC (stream on the ESPN app, Disney+, YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV or Fubo). Memorial Stadium, Columbia.

This one is all about the running game. Missouri just held Florida to 42 rushing yards in a 45-17 win. Texas A&M ran for 231 yards and four touchdowns in a 34-7 win over Arkansas. Something has to give.

Aggies QB Marcel Reed can hurt you with his legs, so Missouri linebacker Nicholas Rodriguez has to keep him in check. Missouri ran for 220 yards against Florida, but tackle Cayden Green and other starters were on the midweek injury report.

The bet: This is the one where EdgeDesk likes the favorite more than the books do. It has Missouri by 8.7 vs. a 3.5-point spread. The data likes Missouri -3.5.
