In straight sets,Coco Gauff Beats Iva Jovic and has stormed into the quarterfinals of US Open tennis championships. Where she had previously reached the quarters for the first time ever after winning a title in 2023.
The match saw the aggressive play of Gauff on the baseline as well as an improved and consistent serve from Gauff. Who managed to get out of an initial break situation in order to dominate over her opponent. The triumph has ensured that Gauff remains in contention for another US Open title. Her next challenge will come in the form of Mirra Andreeva in the quarterfinals.
The victory marks Gauff’s 10th consecutive victory and her 9th straight straight-sets win – the longest such streak of her career. At 22 years old, Gauff showed that youth would not be served, beating fellow American 18-year-old Iva Jovic.
Jovic, who had knocked off No. 17 Alexandra Eala in Round 3, committed 30 unforced errors in the match and struggled on serve.
Gauff gifted Jovic a break in the first game with a double fault, but then raced away with the next six games to take the first set 6-1.
In the second set, Jovic held serve at the start and pushed Gauff hard. The turning point came at 2-2 when Gauff produced three spectacular hustle plays, turning desperate defense into all-out attack to secure a break for 3-2. She then closed out the set 6-4.
“She plays beyond her years,” Gauff said of Jovic after the match.
For Gauff, this is redemption. She was eliminated by Emma Navarro in the fourth round in 2024 and by Naomi Osaka in the fourth round last year. She hasn’t dropped a set since the first round this year.

Gauff has won each of the five matches they have played, including a Round of 64 win en route to the 2023 US Open title and a straight-sets win in May in the quarterfinals in Rome.
Andreeva beat Anastasia Potapova in her fourth-round match to set up this blockbuster.

Prediction: Gauff in 3 sets over Andreeva.
Why? Gauff’s serve has been much improved under new coaching, and her forehand is holding up. Andreeva is a phenomenal mover and will test Gauff’s patience, but Gauff’s 5-0 head-to-head record gives her a huge mental edge.
If Gauff wins, she will likely face newly top-ranked Elena Rybakina or Iga Swiatek in the semifinal – both have looked dominant.
