The Pittsburgh Steelers have been in the market for a solidified second wide receiver since they traded George Pickens in May. They believe in Calvin Austin and Roman Wilson, but another outside receiver would fit perfectly in the offense. A golden opportunity has presented itself to the Steelers, and General Manager Omar Khan needs to capitalize on it.
The Steelers’ Golden Opportunity
On Monday, August 25th, Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers officially requested a trade. He is a perfect fit for the Steelers offense. At six feet two inches, he’s the outside receiver that Pittsburgh needs to pair with DK Metcalf. Meyers turns 29 years old, and he is a six-year NFL veteran. After going undrafted in 2019, he spent four years with the Patriots and then two seasons in Vegas.
I don't ask for much (that's a lie), but I NEED Jakobi Meyers in a Steelers uniform

Meyers comes at a great price. He carries a $15 million salary cap hit in 2025, and he’s set to become a free agent next summer. He fits the win-now timeline that Pittsburgh is currently on. The Steelers have plenty of draft capital in 2025 to make a trade happen. Vegas needs quarterback depth, and Pittsburgh could throw in Skylar Thompson to sweeten the deal. The Raiders can also have Beanie Bishop, if they want him.
The Perfect Fit In Pittsburgh
Meyers is coming off his best season in the NFL. Last season, he played 15 games and caught 87 passes for 1,027 yards and four touchdowns. He averaged 11.8 yards per catch and 68.5 yards per game. Meyers did all that with Gradner Minshew, Aidan O’Connell, and Desmond Ridder throwing him the ball in Vegas.

Extend the man 😮💨
The only receiver in the entire #NFL since 2000 to have 95+ targets in a season and a drop percentage of 0.0% (with Minshew, AOC, and Ridder as his QB’s) 🤯 pic.twitter.com/4Y2QqAZVwI
Meyers has never had great quarterback play outside of his rookie season, when Tom Brady was his quarterback in New England. The other quarterbacks he has played with include Cam Newton, Jarrett Stidham, Brian Hoyer, Mac Jones, Bailey Zappe, and Jimmy Garoppolo. That’s a terrible cast to rely on. If he stays in Vegas this season, he will play with Geno Smith, a better passer than all of those players. Playing with Aaron Rodgers would be even better.
End Of My Steelers Rant

Meyers would be the perfect addition to end a wild offseason for the Steelers. They’ve made several moves that aren’t typical in Pittsburgh. Omar Khan is breaking the mold in the Steel City, and creating a receiving core of Metcalf, Meyers, and Calvin Austin, or Roman Wilson would be a perfect bow on top. The Steelers already plan to be contenders in 2025, and Meyers would take that to the next level.
