WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2025 was a monumental PLE. Not only because of the two WarGames matches, but it marked John Cena’s final PLE on his retirement tour. “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio got this honor by cashing in his rematch after losing the Intercontinental Championship to him on the November 10, 2025, episode of Raw.
There’s no denying the masterpiece put together at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2025, or the excitement from the plentiful false finishes throughout the match. The back-and-forth of this match took the WWE Universe for a ride. Mysterio had more heel antics than you could dream of, and Cena fought back beyond belief. Here are the highlights of how to tell a story in a match itself.
The first big moment came when Mysterio hurt his shoulder doing a huracarana, imitating Penta’s shoot injury from the same move on Monday Night Raw. Dirty Dom drew everybody’s attention with what appeared to be a stiff landing, but it was merely a distraction.
Judgement Day factionmates Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez were ringside from the start. While the referee dealt with the injury, they rushed Cena from behind, each hitting a power move. The antics got them ejected from ringside.
After pulling off the classic loose boot trick, Myterio was surprised by a reversal into an Attitude Adjustment. Moments after his kickout, Cena accidentally knocked out the referee with a shoulder tackle. Things continued to explode at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2025.
Taking advantage of the situation, Finn Balor and JD McDonagh stormed the ring, only for Cena to pull off a double-Attitude Adjustment. Mysterio was next in line for an AA, but the referee was still knocked out. What better time for Liv Morgan to make a surprise return?
Morgan came to the ring and surprised most fans by slapping Mystero to the ground and giving Cena a big hug. The WWE Universe quickly learned there are levels to this story. She delivered a low blow to the confused future Hall-of-Famer, and somehow, things exploded yet again.
Mysterio was quick to hit a 619, which was immediately followed up with a shot to the skull with the championship belt from Morgan. Dirty Dom hit a frog splash, and fans were treated with another wrestling classic, the slow three-count from an injured official.
Mysterio is once again a double champion, and Cena now awaits the winner of The Last Time Is Now Tournament. That match will be his final match, PLE or not, and it takes place December 13, 2025, as part of Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C. Dom and Morgan seem in line for another championship storyline push.
