Bianca Belair has disclosed a carpal tunnel diagnosis in both hands, and the timeline for a return just got longer. WWE should let it take as long as it takes.

Bianca Belair Shared The Diagnosis Herself

The EST posted the update on Instagram, describing carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands and fingers that are “completely numb.” The post noted no feeling whatsoever in the finger she had operated on, no grip strength, and an added complication she referred to as Mom thumb.

The framing was blunt about the silence around it. Belair opened by pointing out that nobody talks about this stuff, which is the part of the post worth sitting with.

The Mayo Clinic describes the condition as pressure on the median nerve inside a narrow passageway in the wrist, producing numbness, tingling, and weakness in the hand. Proper treatment, according to the same source, often reduces those symptoms and restores function.

The Layoff Started At WrestleMania 41

Belair has not wrestled since WrestleMania 41, where she suffered a knuckle injury during a triple threat against Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky for the Women’s World Championship. Surgery followed in February of this year, with rehabilitation after that.

WrestleMania 42 brought a surprise that was not a comeback. Belair walked to the ring in Las Vegas following John Cena’s introduction and revealed a pregnancy rather than a return date.

The birth followed on Aug. 4. Belair and Montez Ford introduced Romeo Leonardo Allen Crawford on social media three weeks ago.

Grip Strength Is Not A Minor Detail

Wrestling is a grip sport before it is anything else. Locking up, catching an opponent mid-move, and controlling a body in the air all run through the hands, and none of it works without feeling in the fingers.

The KOD makes the problem concrete. Belair’s finisher requires lifting a full-grown opponent onto her shoulders and controlling the landing, which is not a spot to attempt with numb hands and no grip.

Belair also works a style built on power spots rather than around them. Very little in that offense gets easier to protect when the hands are compromised, because the hands are where almost all of it starts.

The risk lands on both wrestlers. A missed catch injures the person being caught as easily as the person catching, and the margin in that exchange is measured in fractions of a second.

End Of My Bianca Belair Rant

WWE has a long history of finding reasons a returning star should be back for a specific show. WrestleMania, a Royal Rumble, a Netflix debut, a stadium card in a new market. The calendar always has something coming, and the pull toward a marketable return date is constant.

The pull should be ignored here. Belair is 16 months removed from her last match and three weeks removed from childbirth. A nerve condition in both hands sits on top of a finger that still has no feeling. No date on the fall schedule is worth accelerating any part of that.

The good news is that the roster does not need her right now. Chelsea Green holds the interim championship, Jacy Jayne is climbing, and Stephanie Vaquer and Becky Lynch are circling Liv Morgan. The women’s divisions on both brands are as deep as they have been in years. Belair returning in March to a card that has room for her is a far better outcome than Belair returning in October because a show needed a moment.

Belair has also earned the benefit of the doubt on her own timeline. A wrestler who posts openly about numb fingers and lost grip strength is not somebody hiding a problem to get cleared faster.

Take the time. The EST has been one of the most reliable performers in the company for the better part of a decade. A career that long deserves a return built around working hands rather than around a date circled on a whiteboard.
