WrestleMania 41 Night Two is this Sunday at the Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada. The event will feature physicality, personal storylines, championships, comedic segments and more. Below are the backstory, predictions, and immediate future of the WWE Women’s World Champion.
This championship storyline doesn’t have the most entertaining backstory. Two days after Belair earned the title shot at Elimination Chamber, she interfered in the championship match between Ripley and Iyo. Rhea forced herself in by signing her name on the contract between the other two.
The main takeaway has been the personal rivalry between Belair and Ripley, who have been dismissive of the current champion. The two took turns aggressively pushing Iyo away. WWE booked the champion to look vulnerable until recently, when she was standing up to end a segment.
The two challengers are hyper-focused on each other, which will cost them the title in this often-used wrestling angle. Iyo may lack the English and pure strength of the other two, but she is on another level with the in-ring talent. Not only is she the best wrestler, but Iyo is typically the one to provide the best high spot in big women’s matches.
The official prediction is for the champion to retain. Expect great pace, physicality, and the ‘Genius of the Sky’ to find something new to jump off of. Belair may be the most athletic, and Ripley the strongest, but Iyo Sky will retain the WWE Women’s World Championship.
Expect a dominant babyface run, perhaps against a new or returning heel. Pitting someone against Iyo who can carry the rivalry week to week would pair well with her pure talent. It will take a new face to dethrone her and shake up the division. She also makes a good heel and could turn anytime, if needed, to support a returning baby face who is skilled on the mic.
