The 2026 World Baseball Classic is on the horizon, and with baseball fans around the world ready for another global tournament, the United States has cemented a distinguished roster. With superstars on both sides of the ball, Team USA looks to capture greatness once more after falling just short to Japan in 2023. After the United States took the 2026 Winter Olympics by storm after capturing the gold medal in men’s ice hockey, the nation is aiming to climb the mountaintop of another international event.
Lethal Bats Create a Fierce Core

The lineup constructed for Team USA is one of the best ever assembled in the history of the WBC. Spearheaded by three-time All-Star and captain of the squad, Aaron Judge, the United States is not messing around in acquiring offensive talent.
The American League runner-up, Cal Raleigh, is paired with Los Angeles Dodgers backstop Will Smith behind the plate. A star-studded infield composed of Alex Bregman, Bobby Witt Jr., Bryce Harper, Gunnar Henderson, Brice Turang, and Ernie Clement will, no doubt, be one of, if not the best, in the tournament.
The outfield has a wonderful blend of speed, contact, and power between the aforementioned Aaron Judge, alongside Roman Anthony, Pete Crow-Armstrong, Byron Buxton, and Kyle Schwarber, slotting in the corner outfield as well as designated hitter. Red Sox star outfielder Roman Anthony was recently added after a hamate injury sidelined Arizona Diamondbacks superstar Corbin Carroll from the classic.
Stars on the Mound for the United States

After the confirmation of players like Aaron Judge and Bobby Witt Jr. to join the roster, Pittsburgh Pirates phenom Paul Skenes announced that he was playing for Team USA. He was then very quickly joined by Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal to create the best one-two punch in the tournament. With other additions including Logan Webb of San Francisco, Joe Ryan of the Minnesota Twins, and rookie sensation Nolan McLean of the New York Mets, the starting rotation for Team USA is likely the best assembled.
It was recently stated that Skubal will pitch just one game in the World Baseball Classic before returning to Detroit’s spring training to finish preseason play. Both Skenes and Webb will pitch two games each before reuniting with their respective clubs to round out spring training. Team USA will certainly need some special production from other members of the rotation after the top starters’ departure.
Bullpen arms hindered the United States’s ability to capture the trophy in 2023, and this current roster ensures that history will not repeat itself. Matthew Boyd, Garrett Cleavinger, Clayton Kershaw, and Gabe Speier are the southpaws who will look to neutralize any left-handed power the opposition will have. With right-handed arms like Mason Miller, Griffin Jax, David Bednar, and Brad Keller, among several others, the relief pitching is much stronger than in previous years. The World Baseball Classic will field several impressive teams, and though very few of them boast the star power of team USA, there are some contending nations, that will test this roster.
The Biggest Threats

Two nations stand as the biggest threats to Team USA in the WBC. The reigning champions, Team Japan, are led by international superstar Shohei Ohtani, who proved his status under the brightest of lights in the last tournament. Alongside 2025 World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Munetaka Murekami, and Kazuma Okamoto, Team Japan has a strong case to repeat as WBC champions. While Ohtani will not pitch, being Japan’s full-time designated hitter, major leaguers Tomoyuki Sugano and Yusei Kikuchi will round out the rotation.
Perhaps one of the greatest offenses resides in the team from the Dominican Republic. From top to bottom, the team has superstars in every spot across the diamond. An infield consisting of Junior Caminero, Geraldo Perdomo, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Manny Machado, and Ketel Marte will be Team Dominican Republic’s core of playmakers.
While the infield is poised to be one of the tournament’s best, the outfield is undoubtedly the number one set of players. With Juan Soto, Julio Rodriguez, and Fernando Tatis Jr., the team will almost certainly make one of the deepest runs of the participating nations. Albert Pujols will manage the team for the classic after winning the championship in the Dominican Winter League tournament.
End of My Team USA – World Baseball Classic Rant
Team USA certainly has its work cut out for it in this year’s World Baseball Classic. Even though Team Japan and Team Dominican Republic have equal star power, Team USA has players who know how to get the job done in the big moments. The United States is almost a certain lock to take the top spot in its pool of selected nations, containing Brazil, Great Britain, Italy, and Mexico. Despite players leaving after a short amount of service time on the team, hype still exists for this year’s group. Team USA will have an exhibition match against the San Francisco Giants on March 3rd, with the first game of pool play coming on March 6th when they square off against Brazil.
