The Boston Red Sox may be turning to a new arm in their rotation, as left-handed pitching prospect Jake Bennett is expected to make his MLB debut.

Bennett, a former second-round pick by the Washington Nationals, has quickly worked his way through the minor leagues and now finds himself on the verge of his first big-league appearance.

Jake Bennett’s Rise Through The Minors

After being drafted out of Oklahoma, he missed the 2024 season recovering from Tommy John surgery. Since returning, however, he has shown strong command and the ability to generate weak contact.

Across multiple levels in 2025, Bennett posted a 2.27 ERA, and he has taken another step forward in 2026 at Triple-A Worcester.

Strong 2026 Performance

This season, Bennett has been dominant in limited action, posting a 0.86 ERA across five starts. He has allowed just two earned runs while consistently attacking the strike zone and limiting damage.

His ability to throw strikes and mix pitches has been a key factor in his early success.

Pitching Style And What To Expect

Bennett operates with a deep pitch mix that includes both a four-seam and two-seam fastball, along with multiple off-speed options.

His fastball sits in the low-to-mid 90s and plays up due to his extension and ability to locate in the zone. Rather than overpower hitters, Bennett relies on command, movement, and keeping hitters off balance.

Why This Start Matters For Red Sox

Boston’s rotation has been inconsistent, and injuries have already forced adjustments early in the season.

That creates an opportunity for Bennett, but also puts pressure on his debut. Facing a lineup like Houston’s will be a difficult test, and his performance could determine how long he sticks at the major league level.

End Of My Jake Bennett Rant

Bennett has done everything he can in the minors to earn this opportunity.

Now comes the real test. If he can translate his command and composure to the big leagues, the Red Sox may have found a valuable piece for their rotation moving forward.
