The South Siders officially secured their ninth consecutive series victory at home, a feat the White Sox haven’t accomplished in 23 years.

Grinding Out Wins At Guaranteed Rate Field

After Sam Antonucci saved Seranthony Dominguez from another blown save on Monday, with a broken bat hit to give the White Sox a 4-3 victory. White Sox started Sean Burke, who was able to set the tone, keeping Guardian hitters off balance, only surrendering one run in over six innings of work.

It was third-baseman Miguel Vargas who was able to break the 1-1 deadlock in the bottom of the sixth inning. He crushed a slider for his 17th home run of the season, the most he’s ever hit in a single season.

Reliever Sean Newcomb was flawless following him out of the pen, after the previous game forced the Sox to bring a handful of arms out of the bullpen. Newcomb’s performance came at the perfect time to let the rest of the pen rest for the upcoming games.

With this last win on Tuesday, the Sox have reclaimed sole possession of first place in the AL Central. They now hold a staggering 22-4 record in their last 26 home games, including an 11-1 record against division opponents at home. Furthermore, their ability to handle pressure has been a significant story this season. Last season, the Sox lost over 35 games by one run, and this year they lead the major leagues with 16 one-run victories.

The South Side of Chicago has been bumping for the first time in years, selling out crowds during the middle of the week had been unheard of for years at Guaranteed Rate Field. This season is a completely different story, where the kids feel that energy the fans are bringing and are soaking it all up. It’s truly amazing to watch, knowing where the Sox were just a few seasons ago. The fans deserve this moment, and I’m glad to know I’m not the only person who feels this way.
