The 2024 NFL season has come and gone and now teams are preparing to focus on the future. With a long offseason ahead, it’s hard to predict what moves will be made that will help or hurt a franchise, but it’s always fun to try. Here are some predictions about how the 2025 NFL season could shape out after a busy offseason, starting with the National Football Conference!

Washington Commanders Win The NFC East

Washington, Commanders, Jayden, Daniels

One of the top surprises of the 2024 NFL season was the Commanders’ emergence as a top contender in the NFC under new head coach Dan Quinn and rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. Washington won twelve games this season and had a deep playoff run that nobody expected.

While the Cowboys, with the return of Dak Prescott, will be also competing for the division title, Washington’s main competitor will once again be Philadelphia. There hasn’t been a repeat champion in the NFC East since 2004 and as long as Daniels avoids a sophomore slump, Washington should be able to potentially host a playoff game next January.

Bryce Young Takes A Leap In His Third Season

Bryce Young

It’s been a carousel of quarterbacks since Cam Newton’s departure from the Carolina Panthers. After a 2-15 season and Bryce Young’s struggles and benching, it looked like Carolina would once again be in the market for a quarterback. But since Young was named starter again, he has shown much growth and looked like a franchise quarterback. He capped off his 2024 season with a five-touchdown performance.

One of the biggest reasons why Carolina went 5-12 this season was their horrific defense, which allowed the most points in NFL history. With money to spend in free agency and the eighth overall pick, the Panthers have a chance to fix some defensive holes, which will allow Young to have more opportunities to win and succeed.

Possible upgrades at wide receiver and offensive line will allow more success for the former Alabama star. Young has shown he can play superhero when it matters most, and giving him some weapons and an improved defense will help Carolina’s quest for the postseason.

Detroit Lions Will Fall Down To Earth

The Lions had their best regular season in franchise history winning 15 games and capturing the NFC’s first seed. But there are many concerns after losing to the Commanders in the divisional round. Was this the only year they had to win the Super Bowl? Entering 2025, they may take a seat back in the division.

While Detroit’s roster will largely remain the same, the team lost both mastermind offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and intelligent defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn. These two have been crucial to the Lions’ success over the past two seasons and will each be coaching the Bears and Jets this season. With the Packers expected to go all-in in Jordan Love’s third year starting, along with the Vikings looking for another shot at the division crown, it’s very possible that the Lions could start the season on the road in the postseason. While they will still be an elite club, a 10-11 win season is a possibility.
