The Phillies opened the MLB draft season with nearly five top 100 prospects in the MLB. With the recent additions of a couple of college arms to the farm system, that number may rise very shortly. Top prospects lists fluctuate a ton, but this is an updated look at the Phillies’ prospect situation after the 2025 MLB draft.
10. Moises Chace

Chace is a high-powered arm that came to Philadelphia in the Gregory Soto trade a few years back. The trade has been a huge success for Philadelphia despite Chace’s recent injuries. He underwent Tommy John surgery earlier this year and will be out for the remainder of the season.
Chace’s arm talent can’t go unnoticed, even with the injury. He has elite strikeout stuff, and with the Phillies’ bullpen situation, he may have seen time in the MLB this season. An unfortunate injury, but he is too good to leave off the top 10.
9. Cade Obermueller

Obermueller was drafted in the second round of the 2025 MLB draft. He is a potential fast-track candidate, and if he succeeds in the minors, he may receive the call-up within the next two years. He is primarily a two-pitch pitcher with a solid fastball and a devastating slider.
8. Hendry Mendez

Mendez has quickly risen through the Phillies’ ranks and is someone to keep a close eye on in the coming years. The former Brewers prospect has excelled at both the High-A and Double-A levels. The 21-year-old lefty may get a look if the Phillies don’t find a suitable outfielder in the next two years.
7. Dante Nori

Nori was the Phillies’ 2024 first-round pick. He was considered a reach then, and he has not done much to show anything different. He is ranked highly due to his previous draft position and perceived potential, but he has a lot to work towards if he wants to become a consistent major leaguer.
6. Mick Abel

Abel is the only player ranked who has MLB experience, both good and bad. After starting his career off hot, he quickly found out what leaving the ball up in the zone does against MLB hitters. He was sent down to Triple-A after his rough outings, where he found more success immediately. He is currently viewed as potential trade bait with the Phillies’ great starting pitching depth.
5. Gage Wood

Wood was selected 26th overall in the 2025 draft. He became a household name a few weeks ago when he threw a 19-strikeout no-hitter in the College World Series. The immediate reaction to the Phillies selecting him was that he could be seen in the MLB this season. If that’s the case, he could fix the Phillies’ bullpen and help them contend for a championship.
4. Eduardo Tait

Tait is one of the best catching prospects in baseball. Being from Panama, he immediately drew comparisons to former Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz. It is unclear whether Tait has the defensive ability to remain behind the plate. Still, if he could, he would likely solve the Phillies’ problems following the departure of JT Realmuto. At only 18 years old, he still has many years to develop and showcase his abilities.
3. Justin Crawford

Crawford has been rumored to receive the call-up very soon. He has been playing well enough to deserve that opportunity; the current outfield blocks him. His potential is exceptionally high, but the concern at the MLB level is the groundball rate. Throughout his entire minor league career, his concern has been that he hits the ball into the dirt.
2. Aidan Miller

Miller has not had a fantastic year, but his potential is so high that he has to remain in the top two. He is a top 25 prospect in the MLB and very deservedly so. The fit with the Phillies is uncertain, due to their mix of young infielders and lengthy contracts. They have viewed him as untouchable at the previous trade deadlines, and it’s expected he’ll survive the upcoming one as well.
1. Andrew Painter

Painter has struggled in recent rehab starts, as he has been giving up home runs at a crazy clip. The potential he has demonstrated throughout his minor league career is that of a top pitcher and a future ace. He has slowed down after Tommy John surgery, but it wouldn’t be surprising at all if he were to get back to the elite pitcher he once was.
End Of My Phillies Prospect Rant

The pitching depth has not been as strong as it is in Philadelphia in a very long time, and it continues to improve. Wood and Obermueller will be bullpen arms in the next year or so, and Painter will be up later this season.
The Phillies had an impressive draft, adding multiple players to their top ten lists. They prioritized college arms that can make an impact sooner rather than later. A good chunk of the players ranked could be seen in the MLB within the next three years.
