The WWE Universe was indignant earlier this week when the company announced the non-renewal of R-Truth. Per Sports Illustrated, the plan was to let him walk, with TNA already expressing interest in bringing him back to the company. 8 News Now reports renowned superstars voicing their opinions, including Rhea Ripley, Naomi, and The Miz. Truth had his farewell match against childhood hero John Cena at Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24, 2025. The lines between a work and a shoot are blurred, and the plot has taken an interesting twist.
R-Truth To Depart WWE?
The internet was ablaze after the news of his departure. Per 8 News Now, the fan-favorite took to social media and wrote, “I’m sorry to inform you all. I just got released from WWE. I want to thank WWE for the ride, but mostly I want to thank each and every one of you who was along for the ride,” Killings wrote. “Thank you for all the love, support, and appreciation you have given me over the years. Thank you.”
The next move was a smart one from the WWE, regardless of whether this was a work or a shoot. Saturday’s Money in the Bank PLE featured Cena and Logan Paul versus Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso in the main event. No, the main event was not the commendable booking, quite the opposite. Why have both singles champions in a tag match to try and outshine the ladder matches? The genius emerged during the finish of the match.
Ron Killings At WWE MITB
After smashing his championship belt across the head of Rhodes, Cena succumbed to a hooded assailant. The man was none other than Truth, who speared his former hero before hitting him over the head with the same strap he used. They did let R-Truth’s contract expire, but Ron Killings may still have a shot. No official announcements, other than the immediate availability of Killings merch on the WWE shop.

Truth was a loyal company man, but what does the future hold for Killings? Will he remain pigeonhole in comic relief, or could he transition to somebody to take seriously for a title run? Young fans may be unaware of the other side of the superstar, who is capable of an angry or gritty persona.

End Of My WWE Rant
So, did the WWE plan this the whole time, or is his connection to the fans analogous to that of Daniel Bryan‘s championship-winning WrestleMania run? Regardless, the booking instilled a wide range of emotions while showing the power of the WWE Universe. The rebranding opens up a myriad of storylines as fans await an official announcement.
