Rey Fenix teamed with Penta and Trick Williams on the Oct. 23 WWE SmackDown, beating Sami Zayn, Johnny Gargano, and Ricky Saints in a six-man tag match. The six-man grew out of a tag bout pitting Fenix and Williams against Zayn and Gargano at Toyota Arena in Ontario, California. Saints attacked Fenix to end that match by disqualification. Penta, a Raw star who won the men’s Money in the Bank contract on Oct. 10, then came out to propose a six-man bout. Here are three reasons the trio is the most dangerous on SmackDown.
Rey Fenix And Penta Bring A Championship Pedigree
Fenix and Penta, the siblings known as the Lucha Brothers, won tag team championships together in AAA, Impact Wrestling, AEW, and Ring of Honor before signing with WWE. The duo took the AEW World Tag Team Championship from The Young Bucks in a steel cage match at All Out in September 2021. With Pac, the brothers captured the AEW World Trios Championship on Sept. 7, 2022, and held it for 126 days. The ROH World Tag Team Championship followed on March 31, 2023, at Supercard of Honor.
Penta debuted on the Jan. 13, 2025, Raw, beating Chad Gable. Fenix arrived on the April 4, 2025, SmackDown with a win over Nathan Frazer. The brothers met in the final of the World Heavyweight Championship No. 1 contender’s tournament on the Aug. 31, 2026, Raw. After winning with a Mexican Destroyer, Penta helped Fenix up and raised the defeated sibling’s arm.
Fenix flew onto Saints on the outside during the Oct. 23 six-man. Penta hit Gargano with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker and a Sling Blade. A Penta Driver on the same opponent drew a near fall.
Trick Williams Has Beaten All Three Opponents
Williams won the United States Championship from Zayn at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas in April. Saints challenged for that belt at Night of Champions on June 27. A Trick Shot knee strike sealed the successful defense.
Gargano fell to Williams in a nontitle match on the Oct. 16 SmackDown. Candice LeRae repeatedly distracted Williams, while Zayn cheered for Gargano. A Trick Shot and a Book End ended the bout.
Late in the Oct. 23 six-man, Zayn set up a Helluva Kick on Penta. Williams cut it off with a Trick Shot to the Undisputed WWE Champion. Moments later, Saints rolled up the United States Champion for a two count. A Book End from Williams pinned Saints.
Fenix And Williams Have Unfinished Business With The Other Side
Fenix won the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship for the second time on May 30, beating Laredo Kid at Noche de Los Grandes in Monterrey, Mexico. Saints challenged for the title on the Sept. 11 SmackDown and lost to a Mexican Muscle Buster. The Oct. 16 rematch ended in a disqualification after Saints shoved referee Charles Robinson into the ropes and got in Robinson’s face.
Saints kept attacking Fenix after that bout. Another assault came on Oct. 23, when Saints pulled the cruiserweight titleholder off the apron and stomped away. Zayn and Gargano then double-teamed Williams.
Williams demanded an Undisputed WWE Championship match during the Oct. 23 opening segment, and Zayn refused. A Zayn attack on the United States Champion followed, and General Manager Nick Aldis booked the tag match. The title match is set for the Oct. 30 SmackDown in Charleston, West Virginia.

End Of My Rey Fenix Rant
Fenix and Penta are the best tag team on the planet when standing on the same side. AEW, Ring of Honor, AAA, and Impact all handed the Lucha Brothers gold. WWE kept the siblings on separate brands and booked the pair in opposite corners on Aug. 31. Zayn’s crew found out on Oct. 23 what happens when Penta crosses over from Raw to stand with Fenix.
Williams is the missing piece. Every member of Zayn’s side has already lost to Williams, and a Book End pinned Saints in Ontario. Speed, high-flying offense, and a closer carrying gold make a dangerous mix. No other trio on SmackDown brings all three.
Zayn should be worried. Williams gets a title shot on Oct. 30, Penta carries a briefcase, and Fenix holds AAA cruiserweight gold and a grudge with Saints. Two of those three roads run through Zayn. Raw owns Penta’s Mondays, but with these three together on Fridays, SmackDown has its most dangerous team.
