One of the most incredible aspects of faith is that, even in the midst of challenging circumstances, standing firm in your faith is crucial, as exemplified by Cale Zurcher.

Cale Zurcher Story

This past weekend, Jeff Sheppard, a former Kentucky Wildcat Basketball player, invited Zurcher to share his story at his home church in London, Kentucky, at Faith Assembly of God. It was powerful to hear about the transformation Zurcher and his family have undergone through their faith and fight against cancer.

Changing Families One Patient at a Time 2025

In the spring of last year, Zurcher was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a tumor in his spine, and lung tumors as well. One of the toughest parts was the 14 cycles of Chemotherapy, 50 nights in the hospital in 2024.

Now, Zurcher’s testimony proves that faith works if you believe, as evidenced by his words on Sunday, where he shared that he had no signs of cancer in his body. This remarkable young man has a lot to offer the world, and the best is yet to come.

Also, a big part of Zurcher’s life was sports, and he’s no longer allowed to participate because of his diagnosis. He spoke on how God has changed his life in a different direction, which is a testament to his faith.

In May, at the Ritz-Carlton in Sarasota, FL, Zurcher had the opportunity to meet Vitale and others involved in their fight against various challenges.

For those who have shown faith and perseverance, one of the most incredible aspects is the chance to connect with someone who has walked a similar path and has a story as remarkable as Vitale’s in the world of sports.

Connections To Kentucky Sports

Zurcher’s dad, Jeff, was also a former football player for the University of Kentucky, where in 1998 he led the team in tackles, earning a spot in the Outback Bowl against Penn St.

Seeing Sheppard’s connection with the Zurchers and his effort to bring Cale down to share his story with the community and church was a powerful moment.

Hearing Cale’s testimony, a young man who was once in a state of struggle and uncertainty, and witnessing the support and guidance he received from the community and church, has deeply moved me.

Cale’s dad spoke on this via the website.

When his father asked God why Cale carried such a burden, the answer was, “Because only Cale is strong enough.”

One of the most inspiring things I’ve witnessed during all of this is the story of Cale’s love and fight throughout the entire process.

Seeing him overcome obstacles from afar and share his testimony to help others, shining his light for God and his faith, has been truly remarkable. One of the most inspiring things I’ve witnessed throughout this journey is Cale’s love and determination.

As a co-host for College Sportcast, I work alongside Cale’s uncle, Brad Harvey. Witnessing their family come together and the love they share inspires me to improve myself and strengthen my faith.
