The San Francisco 49ers had a troubling season after winning the NFC last year and falling short to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl for the second time in the previous four years. The 49ers had a handful of injuries this season, with running back Christian McCaffrey only appearing in four games with a knee injury, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk only saw seven games with a Torn ACL, and Defensive tackle Javon Hargrave suffered a season-ending partially torn right triceps in Week Three.

All the injuries hurt the 49ers’ playoff chances, and after winning the NFC West last year, they finished in last place in 2024 with a 6-11 record.

San Francisco is turning their attention to 2025, and some big names from the last few years might not be back; one player who saw their 2024 campaign end shortly due to injury seems to be getting cut this Offseason.

49ers Expected To Part Ways With Javon Hargrave

49ers general manager John Lynch made it known on Wednesday that the team will release defensive tackle Javon Hargrave as a post-June one release.

Hargrave signed a four-year $84 million contract coming over from the Philadelphia Eagles in the winter of 2023 and played a significant role in the 49ers’ Super Bowl run last, recording seven sacks in 16 regular season games.

Lynch made it sound like they will try to resign Hargrave after they cut him, and it seems more to be a money issue heading into the Offseason than a player problem.
