The 2025 NFC Playoffs have a multitude of teams with realistic Super Bowl aspirations. Every team in the bracket has its strengths and weaknesses. Let’s take a look at some games!
The NFL playoffs kick off with an NFC showdown between the Carolina Panthers and the Los Angeles Rams. This is a weird game because the road team is clearly the superior team.
The 8-9 Panthers have had an up-and-down season, with a stretch of alternating wins and losses. They lost the week 18 showdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but still won the division because of the Atlanta Falcons’ victory.
Meanwhile, the Rams have dominated. Matthew Stafford is the favorite to win MVP, and the team won 12 games. The one negative in their season was not capturing that one seed.
Los Angeles was in prime position for the top spot, but blew a 16-point lead to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 16. This allowed the Seahawks to secure the first-round bye.
The Rams, however, have a favorable matchup in round one against a struggling Carolina team. In this game, I expect Los Angeles to prevail.
The fact that Carolina beat them in the regular season and played their best game against them will have the Rams motivated. There will be no case of the “trap game” or looking past an opponent.
Los Angeles will go into Carolina and run them off their own field.
The next game is an NFC showdown between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers. The teams split in the regular season, with each team winning on its home turf.
This feels like the game of the decade for Bears fans. They have been yearning for a franchise quarterback and head coach, and it looks like they got it. Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams have been exorcising the demons of Chicago and have this team atop the NFC North.
It would be heartbreaking for that city to have its magical season fall to Green Bay once again. Aaron Rodgers and the cheeseheads have given Bears fans nightmares through the years, dominating them year after year.
The last time these two teams faced off in the playoffs was the 2010 NFC Championship game. Green Bay won 21-14 and has been the big brother in this rivalry ever since. I believe, however, Chicago bucks that trend and begins a new era. Given how injured the Packers are, the home team has the advantage.
The Bears win this game and restore this matchup to a proper rivalry.
The final NFC game of the weekend is the battle of two heavyweights. The San Francisco 49ers will go on the road to take on the defending champs. This is a classic strength-on-strength situation.
The 49ers’ offense was on a heater right before their week 18 no-show. They averaged just over 38 points heading into that game. The Philadelphia Eagles’ defense, on the other hand, has been lockdown since the bye week.
Philly has just allowed 15.5 points per game in that span. Let’s see how Jalen Hurts and that offense look after a week of rest. San Francisco’s defense has some questions too, but they played admirably against Seattle in the finale, so maybe they can step up.
This is a sneaky revenge game. These two teams met in the 2023 NFC Championship, where the Eagles won 38-7 after an injury knocked Brock Purdy out of the game. The 49ers will certainly look for revenge.
I, however, don’t think it will be the case. Philly will win this game with their defense playing lights out. Seattle was able to neutralize the gold rush; the Eagles are certainly capable of it at home.
It’s hard to choose against the defending champs.
Overall, these playoffs are going to be incredible. The AFC and NFC have matchups that could go either way, and each bracket is so deep.
Historically, the seven seed has always been blown out in round one. This year, however, the Los Angeles Chargers and the Packers have a real shot to win their games.
It’s going to be a fun weekend for sure.
