The New York Giants’ 2025 preseason has come to an end, and the new era has kicked off nicely. Big Blue swept their three games, winning two of them by multiple scores.
With less than two weeks left until the regular season kicks off, it’s time to reflect on the preseason. What stood out the most, and what comes next for the G-Men?
The Quarterback Solution

The Giants’ QB situation has been the talk of their offseason. They signed Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, and they selected Jaxson Dart in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Dart is expected to be the face of the franchise, and while the jury’s still out on his career, the preseason was extremely promising.
In limited preseason action, Dart completed 32 out of 47 passes for 372 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed six times for 52 yards and one more touchdown. This stat line is the best possible outcome fans could’ve asked for.
Wilson is the Week 1 starter in New York, and that’s not up for debate. As long as Mr. Unlimited plays at a high level, he’ll be under center for the Giants. The minute they’re eliminated from Playoff contention, Dart’s chances of starting skyrocket.
With Winston in the mix as well, the Giants might have three starting-caliber QBs. That’s not a bad problem to have, especially given the state of the QB room just a year ago.
A Crowded Running Back Room Might Be Good

After the debacle that was letting Saquon Barkley walk to a division rival and win the Super Bowl, the Giants’ running back room was full of question marks. They entered the 2024 season with Devin Singletary and fifth-round rookie Tyrone Tracy Jr. heading up the backfield.
Fast forward a year, and the Giants’ running back room is chock-full of potential. Tracy broke out in his rookie year, rushing 192 times for 839 yards and five touchdowns in 12 games. He took over the starting role after Singletary missed time due to injury. Now, both of them lead a loaded backfield.
The Giants selected Arizona State stud Cam Skattebo in the fourth round of the 2025 Draft. The 23-year-old was considered a steal for Big Blue. He dealt with a hamstring injury, but returned for the preseason finale. He had three rushes for 12 yards, averaging four yards per carry.

The unlikely story of the Giants’ preseason is Dante “Turbo” Miller. Miller is a 2023 undrafted free agent who is turning heads in his pursuit of a roster spot. In three games, he rushed the ball 26 times for 80 yards, averaging just over three yards per carry. He also caught 14 passes for 135 yards.
Miller might’ve earned himself a stay in New York with his performances, creating a four-headed backfield. All four rushers are dual-threat backs who can excel anywhere on the field. The Giants’ run game could be a constant attack, easing the workload for Wilson or Dart in the future.
Health Is Wealth

The injury bug has been a killer for the Giants over the last few years. Whether it was Dexter Lawrence, Kayvon Thibodeaux, Saquon Barkley, Daniel Jones, or nearly every offensive lineman the team has signed, the second-string players have been called upon countless times.
Coming out of preseason, all the big stars are either fully healthy or nearly there. Andrew Thomas and Malik Nabers are back at practice, Russell Wilson and the entire running back room are healthy, and the offensive line looks legit.
Through the preseason, Dart was sacked twice and Winston was sacked once. Regardless of who’s out there blocking, the linemen are showing they can protect the QB. If this roster can stay healthy through preseason, they might just survive the NFL’s toughest schedule.
Put Points On The Board
The final, and most important takeaway here is that the Giants actually put points on the board. They averaged 35.7 points per game and scored 107 total points. Over the course of the 2024 regular season, they scored more than 30 points one time.

Good vibes in NY.

It’s preseason, so New York is playing against a mixed bag of starters and backups. That shouldn’t discount the effort they put in for a full 60 minutes of football. They never let their foot off the gas, and they have the firepower now to stack some numbers. Even the defense is putting points on the board, something they struggled to do all through 2024.
The Week 17 game against the Indianapolis Colts was telling for this Giants team. In a career outlier, Drew Lock started and scored five total touchdowns, leading to a 45-33 win. If Russell Wilson can play anywhere close to how he did in Pittsburgh, 2025 could be a lot of fun.
End Of My Giants Rant
Preseason is in the books, and it’s time to put it in the rearview and focus on Week 1. The Giants open the season with a gauntlet, facing the Washington Commanders, the Dallas Cowboys, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Los Angeles Chargers through the first four weeks.
2025 isn’t a year to expect a playoff push; it’s not even a year to expect double-digit wins. New York is coming off a 3-14 season, and Brian Daboll is coaching for his job. If they can win seven games, they’re on the right track.
The most important piece of this is Jaxson Dart. If he shows that he’s progressing and that he has the potential to be a starting QB, Daboll’s seat could cool down. This is a big year for the Giants, but they’re finally on the right track. The vibes are different this year in East Rutherford. Let’s hope they can turn the hype into reality.
