Stephen Curry trade rumors have been appearing a lot recently, and this time they could be real. Curry has been the heart and soul of this Golden State Warriors organization since being drafted there in 2009. For a player that everyone thought would be playing for the Warriors his entire career, there’s now a real possibility that he gets traded, or is there? Curry trade rumors come and go, but he has rarely faced buzz like this. Why would Golden State trade Curry in the first place? He’s won four championships for the team; he can shoot the ball as no one has ever seen before, and he sells tickets.
Stephen Curry Trade Rumors: The Possibility Of A Trade
While it’s not certain that Curry will get traded, it’s definitely not a zero percent chance of him being moved. There were reports that he’s grown frustrated with the franchise because they haven’t been able to provide him with the help he needs. This report was pushed back by his teammate, Draymond Green, who states, “I don’t know what the hell Steph is tired of, but I do believe that if Steph was tired of something, he would say that. I do believe that.” It’s important to note that Curry is in the final year of his contract and will be extension eligible in late August, which is worth two years, $137 million.

Warriors 2026 offseason moves:
Draymond Green: Re-signed on a one-year, $27.7 million deal after briefly declining his player option.
Kristaps Porziņģis: Returned on a new two-year deal.
Al Horford & De’Anthony Melton: Both veterans agreed to return on short-term deals to bolster the rotation.
Yaxel Lendeborg: Added as the team’s 2026 first-round draft pick (11th overall).
If Curry doesn’t sign the extension, it could really turn some heads about the future of his being in Golden State. The Warriors have been trying to chase another star to pair with him for years, and they thought they found their guy in Jimmy Butler, but after suffering an ACL tear, it hasn’t worked out. Their idea is to continue to let Curry carry the load to start the year until Moses Moody and Butler return from injuries, but that’s asking a lot from a 38-year-old. Golden State will look towards next season in free agency, where they’ll have a projected $133 million-$155 million in cap space.
Curry hasn’t publicly come out and requested a trade, but the signs are starting to show, and who knows what’s happening behind the scenes in the front office? He still has some gas left in the tank and can be a major contributor to a championship-level team, as he averaged 26.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 4.6 assists.

The Warriors finished last season 37-45 and didn’t make the playoffs, so losing their best player in franchise history is not something they want to deal with, but it could be a reality. If a Curry trade were to happen, two teams keep coming up as interested in acquiring him: the San Antonio Spurs and the Boston Celtics.

End Of My Stephen Curry Trade Rumors Rant
It’s hard to imagine Curry playing for any other team besides Golden State, but the Warriors aren’t giving him the support he needs to compete for a ring. It’s still unlikely to happen, but the possibility of him being traded is at 10%, and as the offseason winds down, that number could increase. All of Warriors Nation wouldn’t want this to happen, but for a player who has evolved the game, it’s fitting that Curry spends his final years on a Golden State team that has a shot at winning.
