The NFL offseason is in full swing, and many teams are already making impactful free agency signings. The Steelers, however, have been quiet thus far.
Who are some of the key free agents Pittsburgh should look into?
Chris Godwin
The former Super Bowl champion with the Buccaneers is coming off an ankle dislocation that ended his 2024 campaign.
In his short stint last season, Godwin put up 50 catches for 576 yards and 5 touchdowns. This is coming off many successful seasons in the past, racking up over 7,200 career yards and 39 touchdowns, and one career Pro Bowl selection.
Ever since the departure of Diontae Johnson, the Steelers have been in need of another solid receiver to pair with George Pickens, and Godwin could be a great veteran option.
Byron Murphy

Cornerback is a big question mark heading into the 2025 season.
Donte Jackson (who was traded for Diontae Johnson last offseason) and C.J. Henderson are both set to hit the market. An already thin position is getting even thinner, and adding a young proven corner in Byron Murphy could be a big addition for Pittsburgh’s defense.
Murphy posted six interceptions last season with one forced fumble and would fit in nicely with an already talented defense.
Justin Fields

The answer at the QB position is right in front of the 6 time Super Bowl champions.
Keeping a young and talented quarterback on the roster, that is already familiar with the coaching, is the best option for them next season.
The former Chicago Bear was traded to Pittsburgh last offseason and led the team to a 4-2 record as the starter before being replaced with Russell Wilson.
End Of My Steelers Rant
The Steelers have historically been low spenders in the offseason, but the fact of the matter is, that Super Bowl winning teams are built in the offseason. They need to lean into free agency and bring in key pieces to help them truly compete and these three would do just that.
