The Spurs have been one of the best teams in the league and have checked off all the boxes during the regular season. You could argue that San Antonio has been the best team because they beat the Thunder, who have the best record in the NBA, four out of five times. They are back to being a powerhouse after a steady decline since trading superstar Kawhi Leonard in the 2018 offseason. It’s been special to watch, seeing a young team like this come together and play winning basketball. No one expected this team to be this good, this fast.
Can These Young Spurs Get It Done In The Postseason?
They’ve looked great all season, but the one thing that could hinder this team from making a deep playoff run is the lack of experience. Most of the key contributors on this team have little to no playoff experience at all. How will they be able to handle a grueling seven-game series vs a team that has figured out all of your sets and rotations? How can they handle being on the road, their backs against the wall, in a do or die type of game, and atmosphere?

We would expect them to make it past the first round, where they play the winner of the seventh-seed and eighth-seed play-in game. But after that, they most likely would face the Denver Nuggets, who have been there and have done that. What the Spurs do have on their side for at least the first two rounds is home court advantage. This can be huge, as the home team is more than likely always favored to win that series. It will be fun to watch how this young team can bring it all together. They’re pretty similar to the Thunder in terms of how fast that young team started clicking with one another, and it shows on the court.
End Of Spurs Rant
The Spurs might not have the playoff experience that you would like, but what they definitely don’t lack is talent. San Antonio has some of the best individual play in all of the NBA. Not to mention, they have a player that no team has an answer for, an MVP in many people’s eyes. Victor Wembanyama.
It’s insane to think that he’s only in his third year, and he’s now the leader of a 60+ win team. He will most likely win his first Defensive Player of the Year award. As long as he meets the 65-game requirement, that award is all his. He just changes the way that teams game plan for him. Wemby and the Spurs are going to be a tough out for any team they play against.
