Sami Zayn retained the Undisputed WWE Championship against Trick Williams on the Oct. 30 SmackDown in Charleston, West Virginia. The win came only after a restart under No Disqualification rules. Next up is World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel on Nov. 7 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. WWE bills the bout as a Champion vs. Champion match.
Sami Zayn Still Holds The Title Roman Reigns Doubted
Reigns suggested on the Oct. 19 Raw that Zayn might not hold the title by the time Crown Jewel arrived. Raw General Manager Adam Pearce ordered an impromptu defense against Je’Von Evans one week later in Fresno, California. Penta came out to cash in the Money in the Bank contract, but Bron Breakker attacked from behind before the cash-in became official. Evans dove onto Breakker but later took a Helluva Kick, and Zayn retained.
The Oct. 30 main event put the gold at risk twice. Johnny Gargano distracted the referee while Candice LeRae slid the title belt into the ring. Williams went for the pin moments later, and Gargano pulled the official out before the count finished. The match ended in a disqualification win for Williams, a result that does not move a title. SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis then restarted the match, putting the championship back on the line.
WWE’s event page says Seth Rollins and Stephanie Vaquer won the 2025 versions of the match to become Crown Jewel Champions. The prize is a title made of 50 carats of diamonds. Neither the World Heavyweight Championship nor the Undisputed WWE Championship is listed as on the line.
Brooklyn’s Barclays Center hosted the Nov. 2 Raw, which Reigns opened before Zayn interrupted. Reigns mocked Zayn’s WrestleMania 38 match against Johnny Knoxville, and Zayn answered that fans still remember it. The World Heavyweight Champion also vowed to beat Zayn at Crown Jewel.
The No Disqualification Restart Let Zayn Use The Low Blow And The Belt
Aldis ejected everyone from ringside before the restart, including Gargano, LeRae, and Lil Yachty, who had walked Williams to the ring. Williams struck first with the Trick Stick, and a trash can and steel chairs followed. Zayn hit a Blue Thunder Bomb onto the chairs, and Williams kicked out. A Trick Shot moments later drew a near fall of its own.
Late in the restart, Williams grabbed the title belt and lined up a swing. Zayn pulled the referee in front as a shield, then hit a low blow once the official was clear. A belt shot set up the pin. No Disqualification rules made both shots legal.
Outside Help Surrounds Both Sides Of Roman Reigns Vs. Sami Zayn
The 946 attacked Reigns’ family on the Nov. 2 Raw. Solo Sikoa beat Royce Keys by disqualification in the main event after outside interference, and Reigns ran in with The Usos. A masked attacker hit Reigns with a steel chair and unmasked as Cruz Montana, debuting on the main roster with The 946. Jey Uso went through the announce table, and Jimmy Uso was handcuffed to the ropes. Zayn then hit the recovering Reigns with a Helluva Kick to close the show.
The Crown Jewel match page says Reigns has taken a new approach since beating CM Punk at WrestleMania, keeping family members from interfering in matches. The same page says Zayn has relied on “questionable tactics” since winning back the Undisputed WWE Championship. WWE has not said whether Gargano, LeRae, or any member of Reigns’ family will be at ringside in Riyadh.
End Of My Sami Zayn Rant
Reigns called it wrong. Zayn outlasted Evans, dodged a Penta cash-in that never started, and escaped Williams through a disqualification and a restart. The Crown Jewel match is still standing because Zayn refuses to lose the honest way. Riyadh gets the matchup WWE promised.
Charleston handed Reigns a scouting report, and Brooklyn added a Helluva Kick to the file. Zayn does not need Gargano or LeRae at ringside to steal a win. A referee to hide behind, a low blow, and a belt within reach did the job on Oct. 30. Reigns has spent the fall winning without family help, and Zayn will test that approach in Riyadh.
Aldis took away every rule, and Zayn used every inch of that freedom. Riyadh offers no such cover on paper. Gargano has shown a willingness to drag a referee out of the ring, and LeRae has already slipped a title belt into play. Between Zayn’s crew and The 946, Reigns had better count the bodies at ringside before the bell. The diamonds go to whoever controls the chaos.
