In professional wrestling, so many stories and pranks have been pulled, and Rikishi’s prank on Kurt Angle is just another example. Some can be light, and many examples have been given with Owen Hart. I will write a piece on some of the ribs (pranks) he pulled in the business. However, there have been so many super crude jokes. The one that comes to mind is when the British Bulldogs (Dynamite Kid and Davey Boy Smith) thought drugging people and animals was a funny joke.
Believe it or not, that’s an actual thing they thought about, and I went into further detail on that in my Dark Side of the Ring review on the Dynamite Kid. Recently, there was yet another crude rib that was told in an interview.
What Was Rikishi’s Prank On Kurt Angle
This time the story was told by Kurt Angle. Angle was on Chris Van Vliet’s podcast yesterday and was talking about his career, life, etc. Well, he told a story on the podcast about Rikishi. Rikishi pulled an insane rib on him and he said the following below.
“Rikishi did. I came in humility, I was humble. I got along with everybody, and I was a team player, but Rikishi got me during a match. He had to go to the bathroom before the match, and he didn’t wipe his butt, and he did the Stinkface on me [laughs], and man, you talk about brown-nose, [laughs], yeah, it stunk so bad, too. I went backstage, he was laughing. I wasn’t even mad. Yes [it was a TV match]. The boys can be cruel,”
Oh yes, they can be cruel. As I mentioned, there are so many cruel jokes that I have heard occur in the pro wrestling industry, and this is up there. Doing this doesn’t make you funny it just makes you a complete jerk. Rikishi on purpose didn’t wipe and did the Stinkface on one of the rising stars of the company in the Attitude era. He’s lucky that Kurt didn’t complain about it or get into a backstage altercation because Kurt would be more than justified. It seems like Kurt Angle is still fine with Rikishi which is good, but that rib by Rikishi was a low blow.’
End Of Rant
I am kind of surprised that Kurt Angle would share the story publicly. However, Angle is awesome, and we are lucky that he is still alive today. If you know how bad his drug usage was, it’s a miracle that Angle is still around and cognitively still functioning. If you want to watch the rest of Chris Van Vliet’s interview with Angle, go do it now because he is one of the best in the business doing these interviews.
