Social media can be super tricky to handle. Sometimes it can be used for someone to look good, but other times it can make people look so stupid. Just ask Ric Flair. It also can get a ton of backlash from others. WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair learned that the hard way on May 31 as he yet again posted an insensitive post on social media and got backlash from it. Yes, again, it’s hard to keep track of how many times Flair has done stupid stuff throughout his life.
Ric Flair Tweeted What???

This tweet focuses on WWE Hall of Famer and AEW commentator Jim Ross, who recently announced he had colon cancer and underwent surgery to treat the cancer. This is a very serious life-threatening situation as Ross has had plenty of other health issues and was also previously diagnosed with skin cancer. So, does Flair decide to wish Ross luck in his battle against colon cancer? Nope, he made the following tweet below.

Not a few days previously, Ross had undergone successful surgery to treat colon cancer, yet Ross was being an attention getter? That’s got to be one of the worst things that Flair has ever tweeted. What type of good person believes that tweeting is a good idea from the beginning? Also, who cares if Flair has a beef with Ross? You don’t go after the guy for recovering from cancer surgery.
That’s Not The Only Distasteful Thing He Tweeted, By The Way

But wait, there’s more. Flair also decides to go on a tweeting spree as he makes a post that is the definition of tone deaf. If the Ross-seeking-attention post was bad, this one is worse if you do a Google search info Flair’s personal life and his allegations. In a now-deleted tweet, he posted the below, and it’s very disturbing

Knowing Flair’s history and how he straight up admitted in his “30 for 30” ESPN documentary that he slept around with 10,000 women in his life, this just isn’t funny. Heck, go look up his involvement in the “Plane Ride from Hell” fiasco, yet he wants to make it clear consent is everything. Give me a break. The fact that he makes a “woo compromise” for consent is just so unfunny that Flair just continues to tarnish what little good reputation he has left. It’s so insane what he has done on social media that Marty Jannetty would be proud of him.
Flair’s Bizarre Way Of Doing Damage Control

Flair got a ton of backlash for that tweet and rightfully so. He deleted the tweet and, realizing he messed up, he decided to do a little damage control. In doing that, he decided to tweet the following statement below.
“If You Can’t Take A Joke From A 76 Year Old Man, Then You Are Living Life Too Seriously. It Was All Harmless, Lighthearted Fun! Just Trying To Make People Laugh & Smile!”
Harmless? Joking about cancer is one of the worst things that anyone can do, as it is life or death. It’s not lighthearted and isn’t funny for any sane, levelheaded individual. Additionally, I doubt he was joking about that because Flair has hated Ross for many years, since the Dark Side of the Ring episode on the aforementioned “Plane Ride From Hell.” He once claimed that Ross lost every bit of credibility since that episode dropped, and said various other things about the man since that episode dropped.
End Of My Rant: Ric, It’s Time To Get Off Of Social Media

Ric Flair needs to just get off of social media and lay low at this point. The man is 76 years old, and he is behaving like he is a 23-year-old on social media. He has had plenty of distasteful tweets in the past, and this one labeling Ross battling cancer as an attention grabber is up there. Flair should be ashamed of himself for what he did here, not only mocking Ross publicly, but calling his health issues an attention grabber. Then also making a joke about consent knowing his history, is just absolutely tone deaf.
My question to those reading is, what do you think about Flair’s comments? Should he get off social media and lay low? Let us know in the comment section, and give the article a like as well. Don’t forget to check out other pro wrestling content on StadiumRant.com.
