Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White signed with the Washington Commanders. White had 2,656 rushing yards and 1,450 receiving yards, with 25 touchdowns in four years with Tampa Bay.
He is on a one-year, $2 million deal. This does not impact Jeremiah Love’s possibility of being drafted by DC.
College teammates quarterback Jayden Daniels and White reunite in Washington. Daniels and White played together for two seasons at Arizona State in 2020 and 2021.
The dual-threat potential between Jayden and Rachaad is actually scary. Washington is really building something special this offseason.
White + Tennessee Titans tight end Chig Okonkwo + Daniels in year two = a much more dynamic offense. White averaged 4.1 yards per carry behind a bad Tampa Bay offensive line. Behind Washington’s improved line, his efficiency should jump.
If any RB is going to play on third down, they need to catch the ball, pick up YAC, and put up a wall around the quarterback. White does all of the above.
White’s move to the Commanders is a massive win for his dynasty outlook. He steps right in as the clear lead back with a firm grip on early-down and goal-line work.
While Daniels loves to use his legs, this Commanders offense used to rely heavily on screens and RPOs to move the chains under Kingsbury. Fans might see a mix of that, plus some of Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson and Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell’s influence. Offensive coordinator David Blough worked with all of them.
