Which Eagles Players Made The NFL Top-100?

The Philadelphia Eagles had two players land on the NFL Top-100 list. Center Jason Kelce and cornerback Darius Slay were the two to receive the honors which is voted on by players of the National Football League. What makes these two guys special and which Eagles players were snubbed in the annual player ranking?

Darius Slay

Darius Slay was ranked at number 77 on the NFL Top-100. He has been Philadelphia’s shutdown corner since arriving from Detroit in 2020. Last season he led the team with three interceptions and recorded three touchdown returns. Slay was also selected to the Pro Bowl.

Eagles’ fans should be able to relax a little more watching this secondary. Slay and free agent pickup James Bradberry will form an elite cornerback duo. Bradberry is a former Giant and a big upgrade over what the Eagles had a year ago. The Eagles also added Chauncey Gardner-Johnson in a trade to play safety. Darius Slay will be the captain of this group.

Jason Kelce

Eagles center Jason Kelce came in at 71 on the list of top 100 players. Kelce is on of the most athletic and durable centers in the league. He has a 122-game consecutive start streak going into this season. Hopefully he is fully recovered from his preseason elbow surgery to keep this going.

The Eagles drafted Jason Kelce in the sixth round in 2011. He has done nothing but impressed since being named a starter as a rookie. Kelce has four All-Pro honors and five Pro Bowl selections. It might be his last year in Philadelphia, but Kelce is an all-time great.

Who Was Snubbed?

The Eagles only had two players in the NFL Top-100 which is low considering the talent on the team. Lane Johnson is probably the biggest snub. Johnson has played at a high level since getting drafted with the fourth overall pick in 2013. He did not give up a single sack last year and only allowed one quarterback hit.

Another player deserving consideration is wide receiver A.J. Brown. Eagles’ fans have not been able to see him on the field yet, but Brown has talent. He recorded over 1,000 receiving yards in two of his three seasons with the Titans. He has good hands and can get yards after catch. If he has a good year, Brown might make the top-100 list next year.

Two other players that have been on the list before include Brandon Graham and Fletcher Cox. Both were elite defensive players but are now past their prime. Look for some of the younger guys like Jordan Davis and Josh Sweat get more snaps going forward.
