Week One Bold Predictions: Eagles At Lions

With Sunday approaching, the expectations are at their peak. The offseason was full of trades and free agent signings. After the blowout loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2021-2022 NFC Wildcard, Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles are hungry. They are so hungry, don’t be surprised if one of these three bold predictions comes true this weekend in Detriot.

Bold Predictions Part One: Run For Miles

Miles Sanders has some expectations this season to stay healthy and produce. With a contract on the line, Sanders will get his season off to a great start. However, that is not one of the bold predictions. The hot take here is that the rushing attack with rack up 300 yards on the ground this Sunday. Last season, the Eagles racked up 236 rushing yards on the Lions without Sanders, and Hurts was the leading rusher with 71 yards. The trio of Sanders, Boston Scott, and Kenneth Gainwell will look to put in work next to the elusive Hurts. This offensive line is healthy and ready to hit.

Yards breakdown: Sanders finishes with 175 yards and one touchdown. Scott adds 39 yards on the ground. Gainwell gains 56 yards with Hurts getting the last 30+ yards.

Bold Predictions Part Two: No Phly Zone

This secondary has been revamped. Darius Slay, Avonte Maddox, and James Bradberry are one of the best Cornerback rooms in the NFL. Chauncey Gardner-Johnson with Marcus Epps is looking to shut down the deep ball. This secondary will force four turnovers and score a touchdown via Slay taking an interception to the endzone.

Turnover breakdown: Slay grabs one interception and adds six points with it. Avonte Maddox recovers a fumble that Epps forced. Gardner-Johnson and Bradberry get an interception each.

Bold Predictions Part Three: Make Them Hurts

Hurts is one of the few questions preventing this team from being an overwhelming Super Bowl favorite. As stated previously, Hurts will rack up 30+ yards on the ground, but his air performance will be the special part. Along with the 300+ rushing yards as a team, Hurts will add 300 yards in the air. This gets the Eagles to 600+ total yards to start the season. Hurts will add three touchdowns hitting Devonta Smith for two 30+ yard touchdowns and finding A.J. Brown on a slant in the Red Zone. The Wide Receiver tandem will be going to work early.

Hurts Stat Breakdown: 23/31, 304 passing yards, three touchdowns, and no turnovers. This will be a dominant game by QB1.

Final Thoughts

For one of these to happen would call for perfect circumstances. A talent gap or misfortune must happen. Luckily, we have the Super Bowl-contending Eagles against the Lions. These bold predictions happening all at once would be nearly impossible, but this Sunday, look for all of these hot takes to simmer down into reality.
