Week Five Win Is A Win: Eagles At Cardinals Recap
Week Five was not the prettiest for the Philadelphia Eagles (5-0), but they still defeated the Arizona Cardinals (2-3) 20-17. The offense had their lowest point total of the season and only found the end zone twice via Jalen Hurts quarterback sneaks, but they ended up getting things done. Another week of persevering through the struggles and getting the win.
Key Plays In Week Five
On the Eagles’ first drive, Hurts led the team down the field and finished the drive with two straight quarterback sneaks. The second sneak getting into the endzone to put the Eagles up 7-0.
The Cardinals got the ball back and turned it right away as Kyler Murray threw an interception to C.J. Gardner-Johnson. The Eagles could not capitalize here as they went three and out. After the two-minute warning, Hurts punched in his second quarterback sneak for a touchdown to put Philadelphia up 14-0. Hurts’ legs were on display in week five.
After a three and out by each team, Murray threw a touchdown to Marquise Brown to put the game within a score. To end the half, Matt Ammendola put the Cardinals down by four with a field goal.
The Eagles opened the half with a 42-yard field goal by Cameron Dicker, but that would be their last points for a while. The second-half woes continued for the offense. As for Arizona, they scored a touchdown to tie the game 17-17 with under ten minutes to go.
Hurts led a 17-play, 70-yard drive but stalled inside the ten, leading to another Dicker field goal. The Cardinals were forced to spend their last timeout due to an injury, so the Cardinals had no timeouts to use and 1:45 left to go in the game.
Murray was dicing the Eagles’ defense down the field until he made a critical mistake. On a second down, Murray called his number and slid a yard short of the first. As they line up for third down in no-huddle fashion, Murray spiked it and that made it fourth down. The Cardinals had no choice but to go fo the tie. Eagles’ coach Nick Sirianni used a timeout to ice Ammendola and it proved dividends as the Cardinals kicker missed. The Eagles scrape away in week five due to some low football IQ, but a win is a win.

Every week is the Eagles’ biggest challenge, but this is actually the one. The rival Dallas Cowboys(4-1) visit the link in week six. If the Eagles play how they did in week five, they will have a blemish in the loss column. For now, the Eagles continue with their best start since 2004.
