Vikings To Meet With Another Top QB Prospect
The Minnesota Vikings will likely take a quarterback in the upcoming NFL Draft. The only question is: which one?
Minnesota isn't focusing all of its attention on one prospect; it's ensuring the player they pick is the right guy for the job. J.J. McCarthy, Drake Maye, and Michael Penix Jr. have all been linked to the Vikings in recent mock drafts, and now there's another player the Vikings are looking into.
Vikings To Meet With Jayden Daniels Next Week
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Minnesota is one of the teams scheduled to host quarterback Jayden Daniels next week.
Darren Wolfson added to the report that the two sides are expected to meet in Louisiana next Thursday, April 18th.
A Look At Jayden Daniels
Last season at LSU, Daniels completed 72.2% of his passes for 3,812 yards and an SEC-leading 40 touchdowns. He added another 1,134 rushing yards and ten rushing touchdowns. The stellar production won him the 2023 Heisman Trophy.
Daniels opted out of measurement and testing at the NFL Combine earlier this year, instead waiting to showcase his skill at the Tigers Pro Day. The 23-year-old was reportedly impressive at that Pro Day, measuring 6'3" and 210 pounds with 9 3/8-inch hands.
Overall, Daniels' ability to control an offense, run through his progressions, and attack opposing defenses with his legs makes him a good fit for the Minnesota Vikings. The only issue is whether he will be available.
Could Daniels Be Heading To Minnesota?
We know the Bears are taking Caleb Williams, and Washington will likely take a quarterback second overall, a pick that could very well be Jayden Daniels. If the Vikings can only trade up as high as three, will they be okay missing out on Daniels and going with Drake Maye or J.J. McCarthy?
I wouldn't be upset if Minnesota found a way to get Daniels. He's a dual-threat quarterback, which would be really fun to watch in an offense with Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and T.J. Hockenson.
