Toledo Got Robbed On One Of The Greatest Touchdowns You Will Ever See
There has to be a point in sports where we can get rid of the rule book and make a call on a play because of how awesome it was.
In the Barstool Arizona Bowl, a truly unexpected turn of events unfolded. In a twist that no one saw coming, Toledo's offensive lineman Devan Rogers caught a wild touchdown after the running back tipped the ball up. Rogers stood there, frozen in time, waiting for the ball to land in his hand before sprinting off for the score.
The officials initially ruled it as a touchdown, confidently stating that there was no illegal touching on the play. However, in a tense turn of events, they retracted their decision seconds later, took the score off the board, and declared illegal touching on the play.
First of all, the officials needed to learn what was going on. They had to review the play, and we all know they were talking back to someone who knew the rules.
How can you be officiating in a college football bowl game and don't know the rules of the play? Every official had no idea what to call, and they were fortunate they could review it and let someone from wherever they were ruling tell them the rules.
Also, the touchdown was terrific, and I don't care what the rules are. When an offensive lineman scores a touchdown, we must keep the score on the board no matter what.
We hardly see big boy touchdowns, and then we finally get to see one, and boom, it's taken away from us. I'm tired of the big man getting disrespected in this game.
All we do is think of them as linemen and guys who should have zero fun, and then when they have a chance to party, it gets taken away, but the dumbest rules ever.
Let the Big boys eat. They should be rewarded occasionally for helping get the other guys into the end zone.
New rule: every touchdown scored by a lineman stands no matter what the rules are.
