TJ Hockenson Has Fantasy Value Late In The Season
TJ Hockenson was on track for his best season as a pro, but that was derailed late in the season, leaving him with some huge question marks coming into 2024. Tearing his ACL and MCL so late in the season last year, December 26th, is the biggest cloud looming over his outlook for the 2024 season.
Even with the most optimistic timelines, he would still not be back for the first few weeks of the season, and he will likely not see 100% until late in the season or 2025. On top of that, Kirk Cousins has now been replaced with a combination of Sam Darnold and rookie JJ McCarthy.
Even with missing the last two and a half weeks of the season, Hockenson finished as the TE4 in PPR and Half-PPR; 8 of the first 12 weeks of the season, Hockenson was TE10 or better with 2 TE1 week winning performances, he was remarkably consistent averaging 6.5 receptions per game during the first 14 games over the year before going out with the injury in week 15. If your league has an IR spot, Hockenson makes for great late-rounded stars, but don’t expect top-ended production early.
Our consensus projections for Hockenson in the 2024 season are 55 receptions, 564 yards, and 2 touchdowns.
