Three Players Who Need To Step Up Big For The Patriots In Week Four
Here are three players who will need to be at their best for the Patriots against the Packers
New England has a tough game ahead of them, especially considering Mac Jones isn’t playing. New England will need to be sharp for their game against the Packers. Here are three players who will need to step up for the Patriots to win
3. Matthew Judon
Matthew Judon has had a good start to the 2022 season, with three sacks in three games. The Packers’ receiving room alone isn’t the best, however they still have Aaron Rodgers at quarterback. No matter how good or bad the Packers’ receivers are, giving Aaron Rodgers time in the pocketing will be a bad sign for the Patriots. Matthew Judon will need to be at his best against the Packers in order for New England to have the ability to slow down the Packers’ offense.
Also, Matthew Judon will need to step up against the running game. The Packers have a two headed monster at running back, with the elusive Aaron Jones and the power back in AJ Dillon. If Matthew Judon is able to contribute in stopping the run game, the Patriots’ defense will be successful against the Packers.
2. Damien Harris
Damien Harris is the X factor for the Patriots offense. The Packers have a very good defense, especially against the pass. However, the Packers’ weakness is their run defense. The Packers have given up over a hundred yards of rushing against the Vikings and Bears. New England has two very capable running backs in Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson. Damien Harris averaged 3.7 yards per carry against the Ravens defense, and he should see an increase in his statistics against the Packers. Damien Harris for now is the Patriots’ number one running back, and he needs to have a big game for the Patriots’ offense to have a chance moving the ball.
Also, if Damien Harris is able to get going, New England is able to control the time of possession. Considering the Packers don’t have Davante Adams anymore, they are not built to play from behind. The Packers haven’t been able to generate much points against good defenses so far. Chewing off clock, along with long drives ending with scores is the key for this game. If New England is able to do that they have a good chance against the Packers. The offense overall will need to be at their best for this game.
1. Devante Parker
Devante Parker had a rough start to the season, but he finally broke out against the Ravens. Parker had five receptions for 156 yards. Parker showed the ability to grab contested catches, and he was able to get large chunk plays for the Patriots. Devante Parker will need to step up for Brian Hoyer. Jaire Alexander is dealing with an injury and is listed as questionable. Parker will need to dominate in order for the Patriots to be able to move the ball, or at least be a good decoy and help other receivers get better looks.
New England brought Devante Parker in with the hopes of him becoming the true number one receiver the Patriots need. Parker showed he has the ability to be one, but he has to be more consistent. Other receivers like Jakobi Meyers and Kendrick Bourne will also need to step up, but Parker being able to be productive against arguably the best cornerback in Jaire Alexander would be a very encouraging sight.
