Three NFL Underdogs With A Chance To Win In Week 9

Week Nine of the NFL season is here, so it's time to look at the betting lines for the games ahead. The Bengals and Eagles are the heaviest favorites this week, each laying 7.5 points. The struggling New Orleans Saints are also seven-point favorites in their meeting with the Carolina Panthers.

How about the other side of the coin? Here are three NFL underdogs who could win their games outright during Week Nine.

3) Cleveland Browns (+2.0 Vs. LAC)

Cleveland is coming off a big win over the AFC North rival Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. It was Jameis Winston's first start with the team following the season-ending injury to Deshaun Watson.

Winston helped revive an offense that was in a rut with Watson. The former first-overall pick threw for 334 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions.

The Chargers' offense also got a boost last weekend, beating the New Orleans Saints 26-8. Does one performance convince me that the offense is ready to take over? Not necessarily. Los Angeles has played great defense, allowing more than 20 points only once this season.

This game will be close but don't be surprised if Winston wins another game and makes Browns fans happy.

2) Dallas Cowboys (+2.5 At ATL)

It's been a frustrating year for the Dallas Cowboys. The team has struggled to string together wins and is third in the NFC East with a 3-4 record.

The defense has been one of Dallas's most significant issues, with the Mike Zimmer-led unit allowing the seventh-most passing yards per game (372.6) and the second-most points per game (28.3).

On offense, Dallas is middle of the pack with just over 330 yards per game and 21.4 points per outing. Quarterback Dak Prescott has thrown for ten touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Despite the apparent problems, the pieces are there for Dallas to win some games, starting in Week Nine against the Falcons. Head coach Mike McCarthy could be fighting for his coaching life, and I don't see him going down without a fight.

1) Houston Texans (+2.0 At NYJ)

The Stefon Diggs loss is massive for the Texans, especially with Nico Collins already on the injured reserve. However, the Texans still have the offensive weapons to compete each week.

When healthy, Joe Mixon has been one of the best running backs this season, and second-year quarterback C.J. Stroud has progressed incredibly well. The only question is, can Tank Dell and Robert Woods carry the load in the passing game? We'll find out on Thursday Night when the Texans face the New York Jets.

If you've watched the Jets recently, you'd probably be surprised to hear they're two-point favorites at home against the AFC South leaders. The kicking situation is one storyline to watch on the Jets' side this week. Greg Zuerlein has been inconsistent and will miss TNF with a knee injury.

The Jets have not shown me anything that would warrant betting on them as a favorite, so I'll be rolling with the Texans.
