This Browns Fan Favorite Just Retired From NFL
The Cleveland Browns are saying goodbye to a fan-favorite. After leaving the team ahead of the 2020 NFL Season, former Browns linebacker Christian Kirksey has retired from the National Football League and signed a one-day contract to retire as a Cleveland Brown.
The 31-year-old played nine seasons in the NFL, six with Cleveland, one with Green Bay, and two with Houston. The 2014 draftee had 16.5 career sacks in 114 games played and participated in two playoff games with the Packers in 2020.
Christian Kirkey Was A Browns Fan Favorite Since His Draft Day In 2014
Christian Kirksey was drafted in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft out of Iowa. The linebacker made his first career sack in his debut with the Browns and finished his rookie season with two sacks and two forced fumbles. During his time in Cleveland, Kirksey racked up 11.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles, and became a fan favorite with the Dawg Pound.
In his departure from Cleveland, Kirksey called Green Bay and Houston home for his final three seasons after six seasons with the Browns. While he was with the Texans, Kirksey was nominated for Walter Payton Man Of The Year for his off-field work.
Kirksey Was A Good Player But A Better Person Off The Field
In 2022, he helped high school football athletes in Texas by giving them advice and pushing them to work hard on and off the field to be the best that they could be. He also invited the Uvalde High School football team to dinner as well. Kirksey is a great player off and on the field.
I wish all the best of luck to Christian Kirksey and am thankful for all he has done for the cities of Cleveland, Green Bay, and Houston as well as his hometown of St. Louis as well.
