The Top 10 Power Forwards In The NBA For 2024

The power forward position features some of the best talent in the entire NBA; there are three former number-one overall draft picks and six former top three draft picks in the top 10. Starting with some honorable mentions, these are the top 10 power forwards currently playing in the NBA.

Honorable Mentions

Kyle Kuzma, WAS

Aaron Gordon, DEN

Jerami Grant, POR

Miles Bridges, CHA

10. Julius Randle, NYK, Age: 29

Julius Randle, New York Knicks

Julius Randle has put up some excellent regular-season numbers over the past few years as the Knicks' starting power forward. Randle is a talented player who can score, rebound, and pass at a high level, but unfortunately, he has a terrible playoff resume. He also missed the playoffs this year due to injury. The Knicks are loaded now, and it wouldn't be a surprise if they explored a Randle trade before the season begins.

9. Lauri Markkanen, UTA, Age: 27

Lauri Markkanen, Utah Jazz

Ever since Lauri Markkanen joined the Utah Jazz, he's become an excellent scorer with great efficiency. Markkanen is one of the main names circulating in trade talks with the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs at the top of the list for potential landing spots. If one of those teams lands Markkanen, they will be getting a great scorer with great size, great shot selection, and a high basketball IQ.

Stats: 55 G, 23.2 Pts, 8.2 Reb, 2.0 Ast, 48.0% FG, 39.9% 3PT, 89.9% FT

Playoffs: N/A

Accolades: 1x All-Star, 2022-23 Most Improved

8. Evan Mobley, CLE, Age: 23

Evan Mobley, Cleveland Cavaliers

At his worst, Evan Mobley is the best defender on the floor in most of the games he plays. At his best, Mobley is an elite two-way forward, and he can only improve from here. Mobley is one of the best defenders in the NBA and has become very good down low and in the mid-range area offensively. The main thing he needs to work on is his catching ability. He'll often struggle with catching passes down low, but this is very fixable.

Stats: 50 G, 15.7 Pts, 9.4 Reb, 3.2 Ast, 58.0% FG, 37.3% 3PT, 71.9% FT

Playoffs: 12 G, 16.0 Pts, 9.3 Reb, 2.3 Ast, 55.5% FG, 27.8% 3PT, 69.4% FT

Accolades: 1x All-Defense

7. Pascal Siakam, IND, Age: 30

Pascal Siakam, Indiana Pacers

The Indiana Pacers' acquisition of Pascal Siakam was an excellent move, as he helped the Pacers reach the Eastern Conference Finals. Siakam added the scoring they needed in their well-run offensive system. He has an elite mid-range game, is a decent three-point shooter, and is an underrated passer—and he always has been. The Pacers just extended Siakam, which was the right move to continue their success.

Stats: 80 G, 21.7 Pts, 7.1 Reb, 4.3 Ast, 53.6% FG, 34.6% 3PT, 73.2% FT

Playoffs: 17 G, 21.6 Pts, 7.5 Reb, 3.8 Ast, 54.1% FG, 29.8% 3PT, 61.9% FT

Accolades: 2x All-Star, 2x All-NBA, 2018-19 Most Improved, 1x NBA Champ

6. Karl-Anthony Towns, MIN, Age: 28

Karl-Anthony Towns, Minnesota Timberwolves

It has been almost a decade since Karl-Anthony Towns was selected number one overall, and it's hard to believe he's just 28. Towns is a great scorer mainly known for his shooting, and he's already being compared to Dirk Nowitzki based on his shooting ability as a big man. Towns played well in the playoffs this season, which was good to see because he's had inconsistencies in the past. Towns will continue to be a vital part of Minnesota's success.

Stats: 62 G, 21.8 Pts, 8.3 Reb, 3.0 Ast, 50.4% FG, 41.6% 3PT, 87.3% FT

Playoffs: 16 G, 19.1 Pts, 9.0 Reb, 2.6 Ast, 46.6% FG, 36.1% 3PT, 85.5% FT

Accolades: 2015-16 ROTY, 4x All-Star, 2x All-NBA

5. Zion Williamson, NOP, Age: 24

Zion Williamson, New Orleans Pelicans

Everybody knows Zion Williamson is good, but the problem has always been his health. Williamson has already had numerous injuries, but when he plays, he's one of the best players in the NBA. Williamson is an incredible athlete with tremendous strength, making him an unstoppable force in the paint. Pelicans fans hope Williamson will be healthy for the playoffs next year so they can make a run.

Stats: 70 G, 22.9 Pts, 5.8 Reb, 5.0 Ast, 57.0% FG, 33.3% 3PT, 70.2% FT

Playoffs: N/A

Accolades: 2x All-Star

4. Paolo Banchero, ORL, Age: 21

Paolo Banchero, Orlando Magic

Paolo Banchero is one of the brightest young stars in the NBA, and it's only a matter of time before he becomes a perennial All-NBA player. Banchero is an excellent scorer, often using his 6'10, 250-pound frame to create space. The Orlando Magic lost to the Cavaliers in seven games in the first round, but Banchero showed the playoff atmosphere didn't cause him to struggle. Banchero and the Magic are looking to return to contending status very soon.

Stats: 80 G, 22.6 Pts, 6.9 Reb, 5.4 Ast, 45.5% FG, 33.9% 3PT, 72.5% FT

Playoffs: 7 G, 27.0 Pts, 8.6 Reb, 4.0 Ast, 45.6% FG, 40.0% 3PT, 75.5% FT

Accolades: 2022-23 ROTY, 1x All-Star

3. Kevin Durant, PHX, Age: 35

Kevin Durant, Phoenix Suns

Kevin Durant still has a lot of basketball left in the tank, and he has shown that by continuing his elite scoring and off-the-charts efficiency. Durant and the Suns disappointed in the playoffs for a second consecutive year, getting swept by Minnesota, but they're looking to bounce back next year. Durant is still a great defender too, which is very valuable. Durant may be past his prime, but he continues to be a top star in the NBA.

Stats: 75 G, 27.1 Pts, 6.6 Reb, 5.0 Ast, 52.3% FG, 41.3% 3PT, 85.6% FT

Playoffs: 4 G, 26.8 Pts, 6.5 Reb, 3.3 Ast, 55.2% FG, 41.7% 3PT, 82.4% FT

Accolades: 2007-08 ROTY, 1x MVP, 14x All-Star, 11x All-NBA, 4x Scoring Title, 2x NBA Champ, 2x Finals MVP, NBA 75th Anniversary Team

2. Jayson Tatum, BOS, Age: 26

Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics

Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics finally finished the job and won the NBA Finals. Tatum was the team's best player, leading them through a dominant playoff run. Tatum is a complete player who really doesn't have any weaknesses. He's good at every aspect of basketball. He had some inconsistencies throughout the playoffs, but even when he had an off night shooting-wise, he'd do everything else well.

Stats: 74 G, 26.9 Pts, 8.1 Reb, 4.9 Ast, 47.1% FG, 37.6% 3PT, 83.3% FT

Playoffs: 19 G, 25.0 Pts, 9.7 Reb, 6.3 Ast, 42.7% FG, 28.3% 3PT, 86.1% FT

Accolades: 5x All-Star, 4x All-NBA, 1x ECF MVP, 1x NBA Champ

1. Giannis Antetokounmpo, MIL, Age: 29

Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks

Despite missing the playoffs due to injury, Giannis Antetokounmpo is still easily the best power forward in the NBA. He is an unstoppable inside scorer with inhuman athleticism and strength and one of the best and most versatile defenders in the NBA's history. Antetokounmpo and the Bucks will be right back as contenders next year, and it doesn't seem like any power forward will pass him up any time soon.

Stats: 73 G, 30.4 Pts, 11.5 Reb, 6.5 Ast, 61.1% FG, 27.4% 3PT, 65.7% FT

Playoffs: N/A

Accolades: 2x MVP, 8x All-Star, 8x All-NBA, 1x DPOY, 5x All-Defense, 2016-17 Most Improved, 1x NBA Champ, 1x Finals MVP, NBA 75th Anniversary Team
