The Patriots Can Win A Super Bowl With This Generational Player

Updated: Jun 29, 2023

There have been reports that the Cardinals are attempting to trade Deandre Hopkins. Hopkins is an elite top-five receiver who should have numerous suitors. However, if the Patriots can acquire the superstar and hit on some picks in the draft, New England could compete for a Super Bowl in the 2023 season.

Mac Jones’ Development

Every quarterback needs an elite receiver to hit their ceiling. This year, it can be seen with Jalen Hurts pairing up with A.J. Brown, in the AFC East itself, with Tyreek Hill helping Tua breakout, and Stefon Diggs helping Josh Allen breakout. Unfortunately, Mac Jones has not had a truly elite receiver in his career yet. Acquiring Deandre Hopkins gives Mac an elite target. Hopkins has 11,298 receiving yards throughout his career, and he’s still only 30.

Mac Jones is not talented enough to elevate an offense around him, so to make up for that, the Patriots need to surround him with elite talent, then they can reach their ceiling. Hopkins has 71 touchdowns throughout his career, and he’s a significant threat to have when the field starts to shrink. Mac has shown much promise as his distributor, and Hopkins’ ability to create separation would be a great pairing with Mac.

Very Good Offense

While it seems like New England has not had a good offense in a while, acquiring Hopkins gives them a potentially elite offense heading into 2023. Of course, the first order of business was getting a new offensive coordinator, and the Patriots did so. Bill O’Brien is a very experienced offensive mind, and he led the Patriots to elite status while he was an offensive coordinator in New England.

After getting a solid coordinator, the Patriots have decent talent on offense. Rhamondre Stevenson broke out, becoming a 1,000-yard rusher, and added 421 yards in the passing game. In addition, Devante Parker and Kendrick Bourne showed flashes in the opportunity they got this season.

Suppose the Patriots can address their offensive tackle position. In that case, they have an elite offensive line, an elite running back, and a receiving core with Deandre Hopkins, Devante Parker, Kendrick Bourne, and a very promising Tyquan Thornton. Devante Parker and Kendrick Bourne will also benefit from having Deandre Hopkins draw most of the attention from opposing defenses.

The AFC is becoming a very dynamic conference, and all the elite teams have a dynamic receiver they rely on. This is the Patriots’ chance to make a big splash and restore some of their previous success. If the Patriots can get Hopkins, they certainly should be in the mix as a top-four team in the AFC. With Bill Belichick in the playoffs, anything can happen. This is a player New England must pursue.
