The NFL Just Lost An All-Time Great
Aaron Donald Was Nothing Short Of The Best For His Entire career
Aaron Donald played ten years in the NFL for the former St. Louis Rams and current Los Angeles Rams. Over those ten years, Donald did not once miss the Pro Bowl. Ten years and ten appearances in the Pro Bowl are practically unheard of in the NFL, let alone what he truly managed to do during his time with the Rams.
Over those ten years, Donald also took home Defensive Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year three different times and was a first-team All-Pro for eight of his ten years.
Donald's unprecedented dominance defined a generation of defensive linemen looking to be true game disrupters who force you to play the game around them. Similar to JJ Watt, Donald tore up the NFL and brought in a new era of pass-rushers in the NFL that was a horrifying mixture of speed and strength.
With Donald's retirement, we can now look forward to his inevitable arrival in Canton and whether or not he is truly the greatest player ever to play his position. In the most athletic and talented era of football, Donald stood amongst the rest as a monster and someone feared by opposing coaches and coordinators.
While Mean Joe Green, Alan Page, and many more deserve an honorable mention, Aaron Donald is undoubtedly the most incredible defensive tackle to ever play. When he is on the ballot for the Hall of Fame in 2029, he should receive a unanimous vote to join the other All-Time greats.
