The Future Of NASCAR Driver Josh Berry Has Been Decided

When Stewart-Haas Racing announced earlier this year that it would be leaving the NASCAR Cup Series, fans began to wonder about the future of the organization's drivers. Chase Briscoe has already found a new home with Joe Gibbs Racing, taking over for Martin Truex Jr., who is retiring at the end of the 2024 season. Meanwhile, the future of another Stewart-Haas racer has been relieved. According to NASCAR on NBC, Josh Berry will drive the 21-car for Wood Brothers Racing starting in 2025.

Harrison Burton is the current driver of this car. Burton has 91 Cup Series races in his career but only one top-five and five top-ten finishes. He is 33rd in the Cup Series standings and has only led seven laps in 2024. The 23-year-old's future is unknown.

Berry's 2024 Season & What's Next

Josh Berry has recorded two top-five and four top-ten finishes this year, leading 70 total laps. He finished third in Darlington and New Hampshire, with an average finish of 20.05. Berry is currently 20th in the playoff picture, 131 points behind Alex Bowman for the final playoff spot.

With the announcement of Berry joining Wood Brothers, Noah Gragson and Ryan Preece are the two Stewart-Haas Cup Series drivers still looking for a new job opening for next season. Stewart-Haas won the NASCAR Cup Series Championship in 2011 and 2014, with Tony Stewart winning in 2011 and Kevin Harvick winning three years later. The organization currently has 69 Cup Series wins.

The next NASCAR Cup Series race takes place on Sunday when the cars head to the streets of Chicago for the series' second street circuit in The Windy City.
