The Baltimore Orioles Have Been Sold
According to John Ourand from Puck News "Baltimore Orioles owner John Angelos has sold the Orioles to two private equity billionaires, David Rubenstein and Mike Arougheti. The deal is rumored to be around 1.725 billion dollars."
Angelos's family bought the Orioles in 1993 for 173 million dollars, and for more than 15 years, John Angelos has overseen the day-to-day business operations of the club.
The Orioles have one of the youngest and best teams in baseball at the moment, and their farm system is just as good.
After a half-decade of horrible baseball, Baltimore finally returned to the playoffs last season.
It is a great time to be an Oriole fan, and the team is producing on the field. It could be a legit favorite to win the A.L. now. New ownership is coming in, and you never know what new owners will do. Still, a lot of times in baseball, when a new owner buys a team, they like to go out and send a message to the rest of the MLB that they are here to spend some cash, so who knows what the Orioles will do in the next couple of offseason.
