Super Bowl Winning Receiver Has Named His Preferred Landing Spots
Updated: Sep 10, 2023
Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is nearing his recovery from a torn ACL he suffered in the Rams Super Bowl win. In an interview earlier this week, he named four preferred landing spots. So where does this former New York Giant, Cleveland Brown, and Super-Bowl-winning receiver with the Rams want to go next?
Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills are currently the top team in the AFC with a 6-2 record, and quarterback Josh Allen is playing at an MVP-like level. Allen has 2,403 passing yards through eight games, ranking fourth in the NFL. Beckham Jr. could thrive in the high-powered Bills offense. He would be a significant upgrade at the number two receiver spot.
Stefon Diggs is the number one receiver with 857 yards and seven touchdowns. However, there is a drop-off when looking at the number two receiver, Gabe Davis. Davis has about half of Diggs’s production so far this season. Adding Odell could provide an opportunity for Beckham and Diggs to be one of the best receiver combinations in the NFL. This will ensure Buffalo has the offensive power to score points, especially against the Chiefs and Dolphins in the postseason.
Green Bay Packers
Odell Beckham Jr. could provide QB Aaron Rodgers with the number-one receiver he has looked for since Davonte Adams left for the Raiders. Rodgers has struggled this year due to the lack of weapons around him. He needs a true number-one receiver to build rapport with.
Allen Lazard leads the Packers with 427 receiving yards, Robert Tonyan with 315, and Romeo Doubs with 314. None of them have proven themselves yet, so Beckham would immediately become the number one guy if added by Green Bay. The Packers have failed to address the position for years and let Adams walk, so they must act quickly if they want to give Rodgers one more chance to win a championship.
New York Giants
Beckham Jr. spent the first five years of his NFL career with the Giants. New York currently sits at 6-2after a disappointing 4-13 2021 season. The Giants have seen success because of their running game and defense. However, they will need more than a running game to beat some of the better NFC teams, such as the Philadelphia Eagles.
QB Daniel Jones is averaging just 175 yards per game. Darius Slayton has the most receiving yards on the team, with 232, followed by Richie James with 191. Running back Saquon Barkley is a receiving threat out of the backfield as well, but this group needs Odell Beckham. He could give New York a boost for the passing game as they look to stay alive in the NFC East and playoff race.
Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys lost a receiving threat this offseason when Amari Cooper was traded to the Cleveland Browns. However, CeeDee Lamb has done a decent job as the new number-one receiver with 556 yards, followed by Noah Brown with 339. Dallas’ running game remains strong with Tony Pollard and Ezekiel Elliott, but Beckham could become Dak Prescott’s new favorite target.
Prescott struggled in the season-opening loss but has looked ok since coming back from a thumb injury. He had 207 passing yards against the Lions, 250 yards against the Bears, and a completion rate of 76% in both games. As Prescott looks to get into rhythm as the playoff race takes shape, Beckham would be an upgrade at receiver. OBJ would enable the Cowboys’ offense to look more like they did in 2021 when they led the league in scoring.
Could The Receiver Go Elsewhere?
The four teams listed could undoubtedly use an upgrade at receiver. However, there are several teams that Beckham should also consider. Surprisingly, he did not list the Los Angeles Rams. He could reunite with the team he won a Super Bowl with and help them climb out of a 3-5 hole.
The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs are also intriguing options. Each team is built to win a championship but could always use depth at the receiver position. This would also give OBJ the highest chance to get another Super Bowl ring.
In Conclusion
Just one year after signing with the Rams in November 2021, Beckham is trying to be the missing piece to another team’s Super Bowl run. So it is no surprise he has picked all contenders. It is hard to determine which option is best for him and the team, but it could be the Green Bay Packers. Aaron Rodgers desperately needs receiver help before it is too late.
