Super Bowl Host Cities For 2024 And Beyond

The week leading up to the Super Bowl is the busiest on the NFL calendar. Thousands of journalists, media personalities and fans travel from all over the globe to experience the event. The latest Super Bowl was held in Arizona and brought record-breaking attendance numbers to celebrations throughout the state. While a host city’s winning bid can be expensive, the increase in visitors brings millions of dollars to the local economy.

NFL owners are reportedly ready to name San Francisco as the Super Bowl host for 2026, with an official statement expected following next week’s owners’ meetings. The city hosted Super Bowl 50 in 2016 when the Denver Broncos defeated the Carolina Panthers.

Only two teams have won the championship in their home stadium. Tampa Bay was the first to do so in 2020, followed by the Los Angeles Rams in 2021. Will the Las Vegas Raiders be the next team added to that list? With the 2023 NFL season over 110 days away, here’s a look at the cities hosting the ‘big game’ over the next three years.

Super Bowl LVIII

This season’s Super Bowl will happen at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is the first time the city and state will host the game. The city expects an economic impact of $500 million by hosting the event.

Las Vegas has hosted league events in the past, including the 2022 NFL Draft and last season’s Pro Bowl Games. Over 300,000 fans attended the draft, while a crowd of 58,000 watched the Pro Bowl.

Tickets for the game have yet to become available but will be a hot commodity once sales begin. With Vegas already a popular tourist destination, this year’s Super Bowl week could be the largest ever.

Super Bowl LIX

The 2024-25 NFL season will end at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. New Orleans has hosted the Super Bowl ten times before, the latest being in 2013. The game had 71,000 in attendance, and more than 150,000 people came to the city for the festivities.

New Orleans first held the championship game in 1970, when the Kansas City Chiefs claimed their first Super Bowl title, defeating the Minnesota Vikings. Quarterback Len Dawson sealed the victory with a third-quarter passing touchdown to Otis Taylor.

With the unique New Orleans culture, Super Bowl LIX will be a massive week-long party.

Super Bowl LX

As noted above, San Francisco is likely to host the 2026 Super Bowl game at Levi’s Stadium. More than 71,000 witnessed the 2016 matchup in-person, while another 111 million watched it on TV.

The 1985 Super Bowl was played at Stanford Stadium, roughly a 25-minute drive from where Levi’s Stadium now stands. The 49ers won the ’85 championship, beating the Don Shula-led Miami Dolphins 38-16.

It’s impossible to predict how well the 49ers roster will look in 2026, but there’s no doubt the franchise will want to field a team worthy of lifting the Lombardi Trophy in their home stadium.

Looking Forward

The 2024 Super Bowl game in Las Vegas is going to be electric. Not only is Allegiant Stadium one of the most eye-catching stadiums in the league that looks great on TV, but the fan experience will also be second to none.

There are several cities that could host ‘Super Sunday’ in the future. AT&T Stadium in Dallas is a heavy favorites to be awarded the 2027 matchup. New York hasn’t held the game since 2014, so they could welcome the NFL world soon. London, England has also been discussed online as a potential location, with the time difference being one of the main concerns.
