So, Who's Winning Wild Card Weekend?

The NFL Playoffs are around the corner and everybody is wondering “Who is going to the Super Bowl?” I will give my opinion on that question at some point, but I feel it is too early to know. However, given statistics and recent performances, I believe that I can provide educated guesses on who will progress this Wild Card weekend. So, without further ado, here are my picks on who will make it to the next round, in the order that I am most confident in.

Cowboys vs Packers

How about them ‘boys? I have the number two-seeded Dallas Cowboys winning against the seven-seeded Green Bay Packers. The Cowboys have flukes when playing in an environment that is too cold, wet, or anything outside their hometown. Luckily for them, this is a home game. Given their record at home and being ranked higher than the Packers, I believe Green Bay’s playoff hopes end here.

Eagles vs Buccaneers

Fly, Eagles, Fly! The Philadelphia Eagles are lucky to be against the winner of the NFC South, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The NFC South has been remarkably mediocre this year, with the Bucs’ record being 9-8. The Eagles have been very shaky in the past few games, and many have been questioning their sustainability for the rest of the postseason. For now, I believe that they will be able to surpass the Buccaneers and move on.

Steelers vs Bills

Even with the historic season that the Steelers had, I believe that they will fall to the Buffalo Bills. T.J. Watt has been an outstanding linebacker and is one of the tricks that Pittsburgh had up their sleeve this season. Sadly, he will be out for this game, and with the Bills’ killer offense, I think the Steelers will lose to the Bills.

Lions vs Rams

Detroit has been in a playoff drought for so long, that sometimes I think that as a city, none of their teams could even be contenders for playoffs. The Lions have proved me wrong and I think they will beat the Los Angeles Rams this weekend. Jared Goff has been an extraordinary quarterback this season, and after their one-point loss to the Cowboys, I think they will advance after this game.

Browns vs Texans

The Browns and the Texans have been neck and neck this season when it comes to talent. The start of the season for the Browns was surprising for me. A team that is usually composed of first-round draft picks winning many of their games. However, their starting quarterback was injured in the middle of the season.

This is why I believe that the Texans will narrowly win this game. After watching the Texans-Colts game, I believe that the Texans have a want for progression more than any other team I have seen this season. CJ Stroud has been one of the best rookie quarterbacks that I have seen since Russell Wilson, and I think he will lead the Houston Texans on to the next round.

Dolphins vs Chiefs

This season, Mahomes and his team have done nothing but disappoint me. One of the most coveted quarterbacks in the league has played very poorly this season and the offense cannot seem to hold onto the ball. Their defense leaves me longing for more and have given up so many points this season. That is why, as my most controversial and unsure pick for this weekend, I choose the Miami Dolphins to win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Tua has always been a great quarterback. My only anxiety with him for this season was if he would be able to stay healthy, and he has. Tyreek Hill, one of the fastest men on the planet, has also proved to be an essential to the Dolphins. Even though they are ranked lower than their AFC counterparts, I think the Dolphins can take on the Chiefs and that Kansas City’s Super Bowl era will come to an end.
