Should The 2023 Philadelphia Eagles Trade For These Huge Superstars?

The Philadelphia Eagles suffered a heartbreaking defeat in Super Bowl LVII and lost key players in free agency. However, following the 2023 NFL draft, it seems the Eagles have filled every hole but one. Should the Eagles trade for these superstars with the birds on the hunt for a top Safety?

Budda Baker, Arizona Cardinals

The Philadelphia Eagles do indeed have a vigorous secondary. However, after losing key safety/slot defender C.J. Gardner-Johnson to the Detroit Lions at the start of free agency there is now a void at the safety position. With GM Howie Roseman at the helm, it seems imminent that a trade will be made.

Why not the five-time Pro Bowler Budda Baker? Many reports suggest Baker is no longer happy playing for "The Football Cardinals." Baker went out of his way to remove the "AZ" from his socials. Whether the unhappiness is due to a contract dispute or from newly hired Head Coach Jonathan Gannon robotically pulling the "shoo, shoo, shoo," in his face, the fact is Baker wants out.

Baker has built an impressive resume since entering the league in 2017. With 650 total tackles, 7.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, and seven interceptions, the 27-year-old is a desirable asset for which the Eagles could play.

Kevin Byard, Tennessee Titans

The two-time Pro Bowler could soon be a casualty of an inevitable rebuild with the Tennessee Titans. The Titans approached the 29-year-old about taking a pay cut. However, Byard does not believe his play warrants a decrease in salary, and rightfully so.

Since entering the league in 2016, the Philadelphia native has recorded 626 total tackles, four sacks, three forced fumbles, and 27 interceptions. Byard has arguably been the healthiest player in his position and has not missed a game during his professional career.

The Eagles acquired wide receiver A.J. Brown in a trade with the Titans during the 2022 NFL Draft. It is no secret that Byard and Brown are close friends and enjoyed playing together during their time together in Tennessee. Could there be a potential reunion in the works?
