Seahawks Saints Injury Update – Healthy Seahawks Capitalize Against Injured Saints Offense?

The Seattle Seahawks may return a few starters and look to have a healthy lineup against a Saints offense riddled by injury.

The Seahawks look to be as healthy as they have been since the exit of Jamal Adams. The offense is starting to heat up with Geno Smith at the helm, and having a healthy array of options at running back and wide receiver could keep this offense humming. The latest injury report mostly shows players as questionable with nobody ruled out that isn’t already on the injured reserve.

The Saints, conversely, appear to have an offense held together with duct tape. This Sunday, the Saints will be hobbled at the quarterback and wide receiver positions. We hope to see the Seahawks defense take advantage of the Saints limited offense.

Seahawks/Saints Injury Update

Seahawks

Justin Coleman, Cornerback: Coleman was a limited participant in Thursday’s practice for the Hawks. We may see him return to the nickel corner position to help with obvious passing positions or formations from the Saints featuring three or four wide receivers.

Kenneth Walker III, Running Back: Walker has been dealing with an injury since training camp. He has only attempted fifteen rushes so far this season and has averaged 3.9 yards per rush. Walker was limited on Thursday with a shoulder injury but we may see him return in a limited capacity against the Saints.

Marquise Goodwin, Wide Receiver: Goodwin did not play against the Lions and was a limited participant Thursday due to a knee concern. He is still questionable for Sunday against the Saints and could provide some big play potential, if healthy.

Saints

Alvin Kamara, Running Back: Kamara was out last week against the Vikings with a rib injury. While limited in participation in practice this week, sources say Kamara will play against the Seahawks.

Jameis Winston, Quarterback: Winston, dealing with back and neck injury, did not practice this week. He is listed as doubtful and head coach Dennis Allen informed the press that Jameis will not play. Andy Dalton will get the nod as starting quarterback.

Jarvis Landry, Wide Receiver: Landry has been a limited piece of this Saints offense so far this season. He practiced in a limited capacity Thursday and will likely play, but we are unsure of how much impact he will have in the passing game.

Marcus Maye, Safety: Marcus Maye has not made an appearance since Week Two, but could return to the Saints defense this Sunday. In two games this season, Maye has eleven solo tackles and a forced fumble.

Michael Thomas, Wide Receiver: Michael Thomas was a solid contributor through the first three games this season. Thomas missed last Sunday against the Vikings and did not practice Thursday. He will likely miss this contest versus the Seahawks.

What does it mean?

The opportunity is on the table for the Seahawks defense to finally show signs of life. While we thought the Lions game was a similar opportunity, it didn’t go so well, with the Seahawks giving up 45 points and over 500 yards of offense. The difference in this Sunday’s game is that the Saints defense is not a pushover unit like the Lions defense was. In order to pull out a win in this game, the Seahawks will have to have a significant contribution from their defense, as I don’t see the offense producing more than 20 points in this game.
