Reviving Tottenham Hotspur: This Unique Manager Could Be A Big Key

Tottenham Hotspur is in crisis as head coach Antonio Conte went wild in his post-match interview after the 3-3 draw vs Southampton. His comments made his intentions very clear, and as a result, the club dismissed him.

His spell has been very mediocre, all things considered. He’s known for his short-term nature; he usually does a quick turnaround, wins a title, and falls out with the board. So the recent comments and the current situation is not unprecedented. What would annoy Tottenham fans is he’s skipped the titles and just gone straight to the fallout.

But as is characteristic of every end, there is a chance for a new beginning. Spurs have seen the end of one era, but there is a genuine chance to start again at an even better age.

The Tottenham Hotspur Rebuild

Tottenham needs to go through a rebuild to have any chance to be competitive. Luckily for them, though, they don’t need to look too far to find a blueprint. Local rivals Arsenal has recently undergone a rebuild and is now reaping the benefits. If Tottenham implements the same principles anywhere near as effectively, they will return to competing at the top.

The first obstacle for Tottenham would be finding their own Mikel Arteta; anyone who’s followed Arsenal closely can attest that Mikel Arteta has been pivotal to the all-around rebuild of Arsenal. It would not be easy to find another Mikel Arteta due to his one-of-a-kind nature, but there is a man who can handle the Tottenham rebuild with similar results. He is Ruben Amorim.

Who Is Ruben Amorim & Why Should Tottenham Consider Him?

Made famous by his Primeira Liga triumph with Sporting CP in 2020/2021, Ruben Amorim is a 35-year-old Portuguese manager who has coached Casa Pia, Braga, and Sporting CP. At Casa Pia, he laid the foundations for the team that eventually got promoted to the second division, although he couldn’t complete his term due to certification issues.

At Braga, he spent only two months with the Braga first team. Nevertheless, he defeated the “big three” in Portugal and won the Portuguese League cup in that period. This made Sporting CP trigger his ten million euro buyout clause after the sack of Silas. He couldn’t do much in his first season at Porto due to the short time left, but he guided them to a fourth-place finish.

In his first entire season at Sporting, after adding the likes of Pedro Porro from Manchester City and Pedro Goncalves from Familcao and integrating academy players like Nuno Mendes and Matheus Nunes, he was able to win the Primeira League and Portuguese League Cup. He is displaying his ability to develop players and identify top talent. His ability to bring a positive mentality and new mindsets has also been pointed out as a critical factor in his success.

How He Would Impact Tottenham Hotspur

Well, Tottenham’s inability to win trophies is evident, and the fans and the board, you would like to assume, are eager to end it. However, Amorim is a winner and has won at every first-division club he has been to, averaging 1.7 trophies a season. The biggest bonus with Amorim is unlike the previous “winners” Tottenham has hired, he would be more open to a project due to his youthfulness.

Amorim is also renowned for developing players and integrating youth, as seen with Matheus Nunes, Ugarte, Nuno Mendes, and many others. Amorim can put young players on the right path, and that will be key for spurs with the likes of Udogie, Porro, Skipp, Pape Sarr, and Dane Scarlett all in their formative years. Youth can be crucial for Tottenham.

If Tottenham appoints Amorim and backs him correctly, they will return to competing at the top, and exciting times will loom in N17.
