Ranking Every Quarterback Room In The NFC North

The quarterback is the most important of any position on the football field. So, it's crucial to have a good quarterback situation if you want to win. Let's go through the NFC North and rank their quarterback situations based on how good they are, if they can win now, and how well they are set up for the future.

4) Minnesota Vikings

I have nothing against JJ McCarthy, but someone had to be last in a surprisingly underrated division for quarterbacks this year. The Michigan product got picked tenth overall in this year's draft and is expected to win in the NFL. All the men had done in high school, and college was a win.

On top of that, he had some decent leadership skills and the ability to run an offense competently. Those are the only two things you look for anymore since the 49ers proved you don't need a superstar at QB to compete for a Superbowl. Regardless, with Justin Jefferson, TJ Hockenson, Jordan Addison, and more, McCarthy will be fine in Minnesota.

3) Green Bay Packers

The Packers are an interesting team because of how little they have had to worry about "quarterback situations." Since the late 90s, the Packers have had Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers. That was all the team needed to win multiple Super Bowls and be competitive for nearly 30 years.

Eventually, it came time to find Aaron Rodgers' successor, Jordan Love, a Utah State prospect. Love has shown a lot of talent and arm ability that is more than enough to be seen as the team's future. He just needs to put it together. After winning a playoff game this past season and proving he can be elite when his team needs him, Jordan Love is on the up.

2) Chicago Bears

This seems like a clear number one, but it isn't. Caleb Williams is a generational talent, along with Trevor Lawrence, Andrew Luck, and Peyton Manning. Williams has every tool someone would need to succeed as a modern quarterback in today's NFL. His incredible athleticism allows him to scramble when needed, his incredible arm can throw the ball 60 yards, and his accuracy is so close that it would make Legolas' draw drop.

I can't put him at number one because of JaMarcus Russell. Just the idea of being perfect on paper, to be a complete bust. But in all reality, Williams is the Bears franchise quarterback for the foreseeable future. Or they should at least hope so.

1) Detroit Lions

I bet you weren't expecting this one, but hang with me for a second. Like most, I wrote off Jared Goff after 2019 as another subpar Kirk Cousins wannabe after he failed to replicate his incredible season where he took the Rams to the Superbowl. However, after being traded to Detroit for Matthew Stafford, Goff has rediscovered his skill, leadership, and consistency.

The number one thing you want in a quarterback is consistency, someone you can rely on. With Jared Goff, you get someone who knows how to do something 'safe' in every way possible. Given the huge extension he just got to stay in Detroit, it seems the Lions agree. Detroits' situation is the most stable, capable of winning now, and will last a few years. All are far better than any other team in the NFC North.
